www.anipike.com (used to be the single largest collection of anime-related links this side of the net, not sure if they still navigate all that well)

http://animepaper.net/ - community based entirely around the anime wallpaper scene. They have a great collection of scans that you can use to make your own wallpapers. They have some of the best anime wallpapers IMO.

http://wallpapers.theotaku.com/ Last I checked they had over 30,000 wallpapers. Some are great, some are awful, pretty well organized.

Some of those are really nice, but unfortunately i haven't seen a 1280x960. 1024x768 is as big as they go.:(
