That does sound like it's around the correct file size. What's the resolution of the video?

720x480

But I'm gonna like run out of room if all my clips are that size.

Surely, there must be something I'm doing wrong...

And I've put the deinterlace filter on too, if that's what's causing it.

no, losless compressed or uncompressed video is about that big. I have a 200GB HDD dedicated to AMV work. Doing it right often takes space.

...Right, I've given up on my current problem with the clutter pixels now.

New problem, and with everyone telling me different stuff, I'm confused as hell. Seriously, I'm a total noob at this extreme clip extraction stuff, so please, and I want everyone to tell me the best way to do this.

I'm using VDub, and I've read the guide with little understanding of what I need to do and weither I have to.

So please, answer me this in the clearest and understandable way possible:

1. How can I tell if something is interlaced?
2. If it is interlaced, do I have to deinterlace it?
3. Do I always have to edit deinterlaced clips?
4. When resizing in VDub, I get several options. Please could you tell me which ones to go for if 1) I want it to be 640x480, and 2) 720x480.
5. Should I compress it? And with what codec?
6. Should I change the frame rate of my clips from 23.98 something to something like 24?
7. If I edit interlaced material, what problems might I encounter? And how to deal with it?
8. My clips will be huge if I VDub it all, so really, do I have to VDub everything before I edit it?

Many thanks in advance.

I got another problem now...

MY CLIPS AIN'T SHOWING ON PREMIERE PRO!

What I mean is this...

Like, I just installed a new version of DivX...which unfortunately for some reason causes my clips to not show. Like, you can hear the sound, just not see the footage. It's like it doesn't support it for some reason, but it still plays normally (sound and video) when I'm watching it on my media player (basically, what I'm saying is that the premiere pro for some reason now won't support the video, but will play the sound. But when watching it normally on windows media player, it plays both normally).

Anyone know why this is happening? And what I can do (I can't downgrade as the older version is no longer available)?

NOTE: Interesting enough, I imported some Naruto episodes from two subbers. Gotwoot manage to play normally, while DB didn't, so if that helps you answer question in anyway.

And please, also answer the questions above if you can. Sorry if I'm a total noob at this, but I didn't know there was so much people on this site do to ensure they have perfect editing conditions.

Read: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/ ... deo2.htm#1
THE SEED wrote: 2. If it is interlaced, do I have to deinterlace it?
You don't have to... but it will (most likely) look bad if you don't.
THE SEED wrote: 3. Do I always have to edit deinterlaced clips?
See answers to 2 and 1. If you don't mind it looking like crap when you change speeds, then by all means, don't bother.
THE SEED wrote: 4. When resizing in VDub, I get several options. Please could you tell me which ones to go for if 1) I want it to be 640x480, and 2) 720x480.
read this first: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/ ... atios.html

Essentially you want to edit in square pixels because that's what you'll actually see on screen. 640x480 and 720x480 are really describing the same aspect ratio, but different PAR.
THE SEED wrote: 5. Should I compress it? And with what codec?
yes, to edit, compress the video with a lossless codec to save space. read: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/ ... video4.htm
THE SEED wrote: 6. Should I change the frame rate of my clips from 23.98 something to something like 24?
As far as I know, certain programs don't like working with certain frame rates. I always assumeFPS(24), but your need to do so may be there or it may not be. It's 1 line on the script though, so it's not like it's a huge fucking deal to put it in.

Also, read: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/ ... 24fps.html
THE SEED wrote: 7. If I edit interlaced material, what problems might I encounter? And how to deal with it?
As above, your video will look like crap when you alter speed at all.
THE SEED wrote: 8. My clips will be huge if I VDub it all, so really, do I have to VDub everything before I edit it?
You don't have to, but it is highly recommended since editing with codecs not meant for editing often breaks programs / project files. This answers the problem in your next post, so I'm not going to bother quoting that as well. You should read this to understand why: http://www.amvwiki.org/index.php/DivX_Editing

Oh boy...

Ok. Thank you for your help, but I seriously don't understand that.

1. How can you tell if it's interlaced (I read it and couldn't find out how to tell if something is interlaced or not).
2. So how should I deinterlace something in VDub? (I've done it, but not sure if I've done it correctly.)
3. So what is my problem with the clips in the Premiere? Why won't it show the video in the program, but will show it when I'm playing it in something like Windows Media Player??
4. How should I resize something in VDub?
5. Should I set the settings at the beginning of a new project to compress it with DivX or Xvid? (Windows Media Player 11 DOES NOT support MPEG 4 so I can't really use XVid.)

I really appreciate your help. But some of these answers you've given me are too complex for me to understand.
