People crusading to defend things they like from the 'infidels', are often just as stupid and annoying like those "idiots" you speak of, so what's your point?
80+% of anime and the things it stands for suck anyway(no sarcasm here, btw), so you can say these 'stupid' people are at least half-right
And about it being educational... what?

Anime has been aducational in the case that if i would have never learned it existed iwouldnt have cared about Japan, i wouldnt know a 2nd language, and i wouldnt be writing a book. xDi know i should stop caring but cani help being angry about people making fun of my friends (heh, they never pick on me to my face...i scare them xD) i take it really offensively.Ileia wrote:It's true. 80% of anime doesnt suck. well, ima fan of almost every type of anime. So...yeah xD One thing that i do argue about to newbies is that watching one anime ONE, they already hate it. and im obseenly disagree with people when they saythey hate anime because a character has ears, i know a personin my PE class like that, she hates it because the language is annoying and the characters have ears. -_- it made me want to dry T_T -sarcasim-chosef wrote:People crusading to defend things they like from the 'infidels', are often just as stupid and annoying like those "idiots" you speak of, so what's your point?

I can't stand people like that...anime is such a hard art though T_T I have been drawing it for almost 10 YEARS and im still not very good. there so many kinda and type of anime to draw, whaaa that sucks to hear about it though. stupid judges t_TKadaj wrote:x2BasharOfTheAges wrote:holy shit. reduce you sig size. images are limited to 40 pixels tall
Of course being a huge anime fan i'm biased to defend it, but i heard an interesting thing from my girlfriend when one of her friends was applying for an animation and arts course at university. You had to present a folio of 10 works of art, and apparently the judges were very unimpressed with anime, as in general it seemed simplistic, dull and namely not a good discriminator for hobby artists and those with great talent.
Just something i found interesting.

That doesn't surprise me. There is good manga, and bad manga.
The problem with anime as a 'style' is that it's derivative (of other anime) so unless you're really good like Yoshitoshi Abe, you're not going to get in on that alone.
Manga as a style, varies wildly so you get stuff like this...
meh.
and you get stuff like this...
Gunnm is a great manga, with awesome artwork.

Does this war really need to be raged onward? Does it matter if Joe Shmoe hates anime? There is always going to be someone who hates it. We're going to like it. We can't change their opinions. They can't change ours. Why try and go against fate? Let's all just be grateful the government hasn't used this as a bullet like they did with the gaming industry. Think about if they got their hands on anime. One look at Chrno Crusade or Excel Saga and they would call on the forces of their lackies to attack our first amendment rights. Again. (Hey that would make a good anime...) Anyway, maybe it's a good thing people hate anime....

Hahaha, that petition is both funny and sad. Rofl at how they made both Ah! My Goddess and Love Hina sound even more pervy than they actually are.
It also said something along the lines of "Japan is a wonderful and lovely country and I won't let anyone badmouth it ever", which to me highlights an attitude I've seen in (some) anime fans towards both Japan and anime; they seem to think that both are perfect just because they like them. It's not so black and white though; both have their good points and their bad points, so I think that we have to accept that some people won't agree with many aspects of Japanese culture or like anime. Not that I think it's wrong to try and educate people who hate either in ignorance. Opionions formed from nothing really bug me.
