Ah My Goddess: A sick and disgusting show which causes children under the age of 18 to think they are capable of love

Wait, what? How many American movies have side-stories involving minors and love? Many times the children in question are barely past puberty. Why don't we ban American movies too?

I'm generally of a 'live and let live' mindset with regards to liking anime or not, but when I run into generalisations like this I want to beat someone over the head with a clue bat. I wish that more people who aren't fans would realise that anime isn't really a genre, it's a medium. The art and storytelling style is different from American shows, and some people (read: us) prefer that style, but as far as actual subject matter goes the spectrum is just as broad as American productions, the genres are just split up differently.

Anime has been aducational in the case that if i would have never learned it existed iwouldnt have cared about Japan, i wouldnt know a 2nd language, and i wouldnt be writing a book. xDi know i should stop caring but cani help being angry about people making fun of my friends (heh, they never pick on me to my face...i scare them xD) i take it really offensively.

That first petition is almost as old as the internet.

I like the second one though.

If you read the signatures, you can see that George H.W. Bush signed a petition to himself there. Plus this great comment:

The second is way off the road, oh my god i think he must be confused to write something like that about another country, I'm a Christian my self and i don't see anything wrong with these series, this is madness.
Not because of the anime but because of the evil things about japan wich is a country full of humans too...

Anime is an interesting form of entertainment. We all have different tastes so some will like it some won't. Anime bashers are just intolerant people. As for something rotting your brain, have you watched sitcoms, talk about brain dead entertainment (my bit of intolerance

), give me anime any day over that.

It also said something along the lines of "Japan is a wonderful and lovely country and I won't let anyone badmouth it ever", which to me highlights an attitude I've seen in (some) anime fans towards both Japan and anime; they seem to think that both are perfect just because they like them. It's not so black and white though; both have their good points and their bad points, so I think that we have to accept that some people won't agree with many aspects of Japanese culture or like anime. Not that I think it's wrong to try and educate people who hate either in ignorance. Opionions formed from nothing really bug me.

I'm totaly with you on that one, i hate anime fans that jsut because they say anime rocks(yes it does) they want to live inJapan...imean common,it's a nice thing to think about, im considering after graduation moving there...but i don't want to move there unless i learn their customs and language to it's fullest extent.
