I need help finding an anime.
I had an idea for a music video... But I can't think of an anime to use for it.
I need an anime with a love story (or partial love story)
With a Male who's reserved, maybe with a dark past. Doesn't really open up to anyone. Until he meets another main character (preferrably a Female) and slowly but surely, he begins to change his mind about life. And more importantly, begins to fall in love with the Female.
Then, something comes along to tear them apart.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Um.
I don't actually need to own the anime. I'm willing to research it, and buy it in order to make this video. ...It's sad, but I am well aware of the fact that A LOT of animes follow that type of storyline... I just can't think of any.

yeah, there are a ton of series like that...
I guess Inuyasha can kinda fall in the category, but expressing it in a video would be a bit hard.
X: the TV series I think falls perfectly. Since when the incident tears them apart, it's permanent.
It might even work with Full Metal Panic and FMP: TSR. Well, not by the actual story, but Full Metal Panic has the proper footage to meet all your criteria, even though the actual story doesn't meet it.

Nightwalker.
The main guy is a vampire trying to be straight (in more ways than one), his love interest is his teenage secretary he turned into a vampire (to save her life), and their relationship gets screwed up when his past comes back to get him in the form of the guy who turned him into a vampire (who kidnaps his girl, screws with his mind, and kisses him to boot). Fun series. It's got some angst and some fluff, and nice eyecandy scenes where the girl is all evil vampire of doom (usable if you'd rather feature her as the thing tearing them apart). It's short, too, if you're looking to buy your sources - only two dvds.
Not a very common anime for vids, though. Inuyasha is just chalk full of subplots like that, every other arc, same characters same interruption in the building romance. You'd never run out of footage. ;p
