Alright let see if I can break this down so everyone understands it. AMV Raw is not a contest. Its more of a interactive E-Fed contest. The one and only thing you have to do is enter your profile, how often you released videos is up to you. Each week a list of matches are booked to take place. In most cases these matches tell a story, the story changes one way or the other depending on the voting.
Some times to help story lines move forward, matches will be made where one video is overall weaker the another which results in one person to lose almost no matter what. This is done to move a storyline long which makes for good entertainment. Just like in Wrestling when matches are made and depending on how the crowed goes with it depends on who wins. Some times the outcome is already preset so that the story can move to the next level.
Then there are monthly events or like in wrestling, Pay-Per-Views (you don't really pay to see them however) which key matches are made which have one reason and one reason only. To end a storyline or start a new one. Most of the time a new one begins where a old one ends, this moves along into the next event.
Videos are chosen base on the story and some times depending on the match, most cases when event matches are made in which case it requires the makers to make a new video (such as the Iron man match between Majin Steve and Majin Trunks at the Do or Die Event, both already know ahead of time a agree to meet the deadline before hand. In some rare cases in the even of ties, the match moves forward one way to keep the story going.
There is only so much that can be done in match weeks, the story is build mostly of what it posted in the match weeks, some times those who are on the roster post comments. Which they do as their character (like an rpg) which adds to the story. There are also like news post made which do recaps or backstage story that gives more details into a story or set up key elements to the story.
When you release new videos, and I see them I will generally use them first as this is after all a form of showcasing your videos to the fans. In the other cases as I said the videos are pick base on the story that in progress to keep it going. Not every match as a story, some times they are just match ups where each video pick are equal and comes down to which one the fans like best. In the end of the night, it comes down to the fans and who they like the best.
You are more then welcome to start your own AMV Smackdown if you wish too. I would have nothing against it. AMV Raw is not like the other contest posted here, where it for pride, money, etc. Yes there is respect that comes with it, but its more to just have some fun and showcase your skills and share your videos.

and its not really that im scared of losing, i lose quite a bit without this contest... the thing is i have so many crappy videos listed on my profile that if you picked.. .lets say... The Best DBZ Vid EVAR!! then it would be like a 2 on 1 match with me blindfolded and tied up, and giving them baseball bats, chairs, ladders and whatever else they want... it would be bad.. like something out of elfen lied... I think the best way to describe it would be... "Worlds Most 1 Sided Fist Fights Caught On Tape!"
Other then that, i have very little urge to be in a contest right now, mainly cause i lack internet and good amvs...
