Castle of Cagliostro troubles

Post by macchinainterna » Mon Feb 05, 2007 10:41 pm

I just bought the special edition of "Castle of Cagliostro" last Friday, and when I watched it I had a scene towards the end of the movie that played wrong; it looked like it was interlaced. Is this a manfacturing error on all the DVDs or did I just pick up a bad copy?

What did you play the DVD on? It may be your player that is partly to blame. I'm not sure if this is about the same issue you are having: http://www.animeondvd.com/forum/showtop ... tid/12236/. Unfortunately, it seem the original poster's issue never got resolved.

It is possible that there is an issue. But it may be only a small segment of owners that have experienced it. Or even noticed it.

You may wish to analyze the video through DGIndex or VirtualDubMod. It is possible that the video cadence goes out of whack at that point and some DVD players can't compensate.

That kinda sounds like the problem I had with the DVD.

I played it on my RCA player that's close to three years old when I had this incident, and then the same when I played it on the PowerDVD player on the computer. However, when I played it on the older RCA (Close to six years old) in the livingroom it played perfectly fine; no video problems at all.

I think you may be right about the video cadence going out of whack, but so long as it plays fine one at least one of my players I have no problem with it. Thanks for the help!
