most anime now really blows, and as it becomes more mainstream more crap gets shown, or something, there is a link there! so it is harder to make more amv that are inspiring when the raw anime sucks and is unispiring.

ps There have been a few exception......... discuss.....

if you think there is really good anime come out in the last six months name it, I love anime don't get me wrong!

It's matter of taste whether you think new anime series are good or sucks, but this have nothing to do with the AMVs... There are many examples of awesome AMVs done to completely crappy series (first example that cross my mind is Bachelorette by Kusoyaro) and even more of crappy AMVS to awesome series, since it's all about the final product not the Anime you take footage from.

youre right that its a matter of taste.. I happen to like Utena :/ (and i think he used the MOVIE for that vid >.> heh)

but the more popular a series statistically the more crappy amvs are going to be made to it... see: naruto, DBZ, Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura... and now Suzumiya.. just because its popular, but there will be a few good amvs to it as well... it means that more people like it, therefore more people (good and bad) will want to make amvs to it...

and something that i think is total shit, someone else might love to pieces...

You are right that lots of stuff out now is just crap.
I'm, into a lot of the more serious series that screw with you emotionally. Things like Haibane Renmei, Gunslinger Girl, Kino's Journey, Infinite Ryvius, the Miyazaki films, etc.

I actually can't watch Anime on TV 99% of the time because of how screwed up it is. Anything on Cartoon Network or something is just screwed up in my opinion. It's usually lowest common denominator crap, and the presentation is awful.

I was going someplace with this but I can't remember where... so I'll end it there.

one way i keep an eye out for good series is by reading manga, when the manga gets turned into an anime i will know early on whether or not it will be good (unless the anime production is a crappy one). For instance, not many people heard of black lagoon when it had just come out, however, i know the potential it would have so i spent a long time gathering material to use for my amvs before it became mainstream. Another series that is still in production is death note, for which i have a really good concept, the thing is that some episodes i want to use have not been released yet so i'll have to wait another month or so before i have all the scenes i want for my amv, however, as soon as they come out i'll be grabbing them and starting on my amv, hopefully before a flood of death note amvs hit the .org. There are already a number of them but not a ton, unlike the more popular series.

Can I have a few examples of "New Anime that suck"?

Because anout the only Anime series I didn't enjoy on SOME level was Nadjica Blitz Tactics (Otherwise know as "The Pantie Shot Show"). That show was so terrible, multiple mindless pantie shots couldn't save it.

And the Utena movie WAS terrible. The series rocked hardcore.

And stop hating CN. Hate the people who try to take footage directly FROM it.

Oh yeah, something else to note... don't EVER let ANYONE influence the way you feel about a series.

People will hate me for saying this, but I actually liked Card Captors on Fox back in 2000. That was back around the time when I started watching anime (and knowing it was anime), and while it was naive of me, I was happy to watch it. Then I went to Otakon in 2000, people told me about how screwed up and different it was from Cardcaptor Sakura, and it just ruined the thing for me and I could never enjoy it after that.

So yeah, like what you want to like and hate what you want to hate. Don't let yourself be influenced by what someone else thinks.
