Another VirtualDubMod help...

So, I'm not sure if this problem has already been addressed but I got some problems with VDM. I can make clips and stuff just fine but everytime I play back the clips, it lags like crazy or it just plays back slow. There's nothing wrong with my video players, its just the way the file was rendered. I use Huffyuv and Lagarith codec, but is there something else i'm missing here? Is there a specific setting I need to change on virtualdubmod or something? thanks!

Did you use both of then? or just how long you encode your clips?

Perhaps your system cannot handle HuffyYUV or Lagarith realtime playback. What is your processor speed and how much RAM do you have?

I, on the other hand, have experienced editing prog lag with HuffYUV before at full res. It happens, I know for a fact.

Yes, I've used both of them and I only make about 1-2min clips. My processor speed is 1.70ghz and I got a gig of RAM. Now, is there something on the video settings (such as full processing, normal/fast recompress or frame rate) that might need to be changed? Are there other lossless codecs that my pc can handle realtime playback? This is confusing haha @_@

No do not use Lag!.... since lag is much more space of usages eat and it has also get more space in your PC as I see your ghz. is only quite abit of (3800+ 2.19 ghz) mine so maybe us huffyuv instead and make more smaller encoded clips like less 50 - 40sec.

1 or 2 mins is very large file if you got only 1.70. First try to get small clips that you really needed then try to playback that in your realtime (I never use that before ) if that is work then you should continued if does not say what error you got or something like that so we can figure it out.

Don't bother trying to play back HuffYUV- or Lagarith-encoded files in VirtualDubMod. Scan through them to check that the frames look right, yes, but don't play them back. That's not what the codecs were meant for.

First try to get small clips that you really needed then try to playback that in your realtime (I never use that before Confused) if that is work then you should continued if does not say what error you got or something like that so we can figure it out.

Ya, I've made like 20sec clips using HuffYUV but it still plays back slow. D:

Don't bother trying to play back HuffYUV- or Lagarith-encoded files in VirtualDubMod.

I play my files back on Divx or Windows Media Player. Both play the files slow. btw, the files I use are divx avi files, if that clears up anything haha.

they just play slow. No way around it. I have 2gb of ram and they lag. And I can't even get Huffy files to play outside of VDubMod.

Lagarith actually makes smaller files than Huffyuv. Not by much, but still smaller.

Yes, I know it's smaller but it's eats alot of space and cp usages than huffyuv in my laptop also theres getting issues when you use lag.

Lagarith actually makes smaller files than Huffyuv. Not by much, but still smaller.

... provided you're using the same colorspace with both codecs. If you compare videos encoded with HuffYUV in YUY2 mode vs. videos encoded with Lagarith in RGB32 mode, then of course the HuffYUV files will be smaller.
