How many episodes are there of Naruto, and do we know how many they are going to make?
Of the normal Naruto 220 with fillers and 2 of Naruto Shippuden

Depending on how you count these episodes, Naruto and Naruto Shippuuden if treated as 2 different series, we get 220 for the first and 2 (aired so far) for the second.

This is like what happened when Dragon Ball became Dragon Ball Z and eventually Dragon Ball GT. It's still the same characters, similar storylines and situations, but can be considered separate from each other (somewhat).

Aren't the similarities between the 2 shows eerie?

Considering the fact that they're both Shonen Jump titles automatically means they have at least a dosen things in common to begin with, not really.

So, how did everyone like the first episode of the new stuff? I'm ready to get back into the habit of watching Naruto again.

It was pretty good. No much fighting though, but the next episodes should be better. The bell test with Kakashi.

Were they? I had no idea young Japanese boys had any sense of taste when it came to this sort of thing.

It made me want to cry, with the quality that is. Characters were just drawn really bad in a lot of areas, it reminded me of the quality in some of the filler episodes, though there were some amazing moments with great art and great animation, but the forms and coloring isn't as appealing as it was in the very first episode in Naruto, I hope the character design shoots up somewhere along the line. It has gone up and down in the series so it's forgivable, but for crying out loud, this is the first episode. I thought they were going to go all the way with it. That's the only way it was really a let down, I'm glad the filler has gone and things are getting back on track, though a lot of questions are brought up that I hope are answered later on.. like with the progress of everyone besides a specific someone. I don't feel like writing up spoilers so I'll just leave it at that. I'm hoping for some very interesting content and story to come, everything so far seems like the build up.. I hope it goes back to feeling the way it did before the filler or better. So I'm giving it a thumbs up I just expected a lot more, in some areas it was better than expected.

Fillers of Naruto. Ack... Is it just me or has that anime spent the last 5 episodes flying through trees? Though I must say it probably has something good coming (from the viewpoint of a so-so Naruto fan, who's seeing the episodes for the first time).
