I just *love* this anime.

I saw the original Hellsing series a few years ago and thought it was okay. The best was episode 6 (I think) where Walter went nuts on the Valentine brothers.

Then I read the manga. Holy geez! It's definetely in my top 5, up there with Berserk and Vagabond and X. The part that I thought was so amazing was that the mangaka could just keep ratcheting up the action without having it seemed too contrived. There are a lot of Hollywood movies where it just feels like a lot of explosions without substance... but in Hellsing the characters seemed to own the ridiculous amounts of power they had. It's hard to describe.

Then this new series came out... and once again I was blown away. After watching the first 2 episodes, I'm convinced this will be one of the more memorable animes in a while, up there with the awesome new anime version of Death Note. Hellsing Ultimate delivers on almost every level: spectacular animation, good use of CG, good voices, good plot, true to the anime, and (of course) *awesome* action.

I wonder how far the third episode will take us...

Looks like Episode 3 has been postponed... I sure hope they get it done soon...

Yesh, so glad they did hellsing ultimate. I already liked (liked, not loved) Hellsing (older one), but they did great with this one!
