Voice sync tips

Im not sure what methods other people use, but i thought i would offer my $.02 worth of advice for half way decent lip syncing in WMM. This is what ive learned or managed to figure out, if anyone has suggestions let me know.

tip 1:
create a file with various speech types. Closed mouth for the silence, talking mouth for the speaking part of the song. even if done 1/2 way decent it looks pretty good

tip 2:
when you get fustrated with something not matching up, use a cut scene where you someone is at a distance, that way you it gives the illusion of them talking, w/o actually having to sync up. sometimes if the character poses it adds to the AMV

tip 3:
if you are going to go through all the trouble and sync the character to the music, erase the subtitles. nothing is more distracting then Rock Lee saying he wants to fight when you see subtitles talking about how he never wants to give it.

tip 4:
one does not have to sync the char and music 100% of the time. throw some action in there

tip 5:
dont forget to use the voice bar at the bottom screen. its a great indicator for when the action goes silent v when the background voice talks

i agree 100%, when i did my first couple of AMVs, i didnt know how to fix that problem, and i was concerned about getting down the basics first. but anything after my 1st 3, i have no excuse :p

if you want to take your AMV to the next level....#3 is a must

In all honesty, #3 shouldn't be an issue in the first place if you're serious about making something decent.

yea well that requires one to be actually "serious" about the hobby O:

im not entirely serious about the hobby, but im serious on cutting down the number of whiners that bitch about "subtitles" in the video O.o (it became a pet-peeve for me... which is why the subs are all gone from my vids that i had made "when i didnt know better") O.o

Well, those aren't that big of a deal, as I doubt you were really serious about it when you were first starting out.

Most subs (at the ones I've watched) are of great quality, it's not too much of a loss to lose a little at the bottom. But you can still be serious and make a great AMV with chopped subs.

Well,I believe that all amateurs make their first videos without caring about subtitles.After all,the first time is all about the joy of editing and not for impression.That was the case in my situation at least when I started using WMM...

As they go on and get serious,they improve themselves and they little by little remove the various flaws of their vids.But the answer lies in your attitude towards editing and how much time you are ready to sacrifice for a hobby...

actually for me it wasnt about caring.... or not caring

i saw lots of amvs with subs in them and i thought it was acceptable

True, back before when all I did was watch I didn't really mind subs, unless they were trying to lip synch.

I remember in my 3rd vid I wanted to trim the subs off, but I didn't know how...

FMS is right though about 1st vids, I remember doing my first in one afternoon just going "Ah editing
