Sailor Moon. I'm stunned that no one has said anything. The manga was so good, wallowing in equal parts slapstick, spoof and drama. [Fatty Mask ring a bell?] Granted, the animation didn't hit the chop-dub block until it was kiddie-ized for American TV, but even so, the author stated she knew the animators were making it more 'gender appealing'. It was like watching horrifyingly fascinating mutation.

I'll second that.

I blame Tokyopop for wanting to be an anime distributor. Stick with the manga, tokyopop. I mean, the thing I didn't get most was how Real Bout Highschool suddenly became 'sci-fi beating up guys with big muscles that turn into random mutants'. At least they kept the panty shots. :O lol

Wow, if the "filler" in YYH bothers you, then how can you watch any anime? Filler in YYH was at max 5 minutes long. When you compare that to DBZ with whole Filler Sagas.
I'm sorry, but I cannot see where it takes 3 to 4 episodes to kick Kuwabara's ass. It does not take over a full minute, plus narrative, for him to fall from a great height and say Ow. Add to that all the people & demons analyzing how his ass is being kicked. In my opinion, it didn't need to be that long.

The first episodes were decent, but as the series went on, it seemed that more narrative and vocal thoughts started crowding out a lot of the actual movement.

Likewise, I don't watch DBZ; I watched DragonBall years ago, but after a few episodes of DBZ, I concluded it was not for me.
They had to fit each episode into 25 minutes, so instead of just being 100% manga accurate and having to end episodes are weirdo places, they had to insert a few little things to make it work. You have to add longer fights in anime form to take up more time. In manga form, one slash of a sword could take up 1 or 2 pages (if they decided to do a full page action scene) but in the anime the sword has to take up 17 slices to match the length in the book. I personally never had a problem with it and think all manga SHOULD be adapted like YYH was into anime.

Love Hina.

A well-written story with very good pacing and almost everything in it is relevant to the overall story of Naru and Keitaro.

The show? A horrible adaptation that added new characters that did absolutely nothing for the story, and only about 9 of the 30 episodes actually followed the comic. Dear god, I refuse to watch that show ever again...

Midori no hibi was pretty faithful to the manga but they cut out an incredible character Nao chan which is unforgivable.

Sgt frog-The anime is absolutley retarded while the manga is great.

I also forgot to add King of Bandit Jing to my list. I did enjoy the anime to a great extent, but it felt so rushed compared to the manga. I definitely thought the manga had a better ending to it, while the anime ending made me feel like "What, that's it?".

Another vote for the Hellsing TV series.
The sad part is, the first half was actually pretty damned good. It was only after ep 6 they started sliding (and I blame a BIG part of that on the character of Incognito.)
To this day, the worst 'big-boss' villain I've seen in an anime.

I haven't been reading manga for very long, except for one series: Angel Sanctuary.

The manga is absolutely beautiful, but the OVA was a joke. It was only based off the first 3 volumes, and they chopped out two major characters that were pivitol in those 3 volumes. It's still useful for AMVs, but I would never watch it if I had the choice.

I'm a huge, huge fan of the Mahou Sensei Negima manga and I was mostly dissapointed with how they handled the anime. Nevermind the fact that Xebec screwed up to the point where they had to reanimate half of the series, but they only made it 26 episodes and thus deviated greatly from the manga (which is still ongoing).

I've heard that the new Negima?! series is supposed to be a lot better, but I'm not sure how I feel about the animation style so I'm holding back on watching it for now.

Maison Ikkoku. The manga is probably my favorite manga series of all. The anime is unbelievable boring. I sat through the first episode and said 'Ok, maybe it's just teething problems'. Since I know the story so well I just skipped to episode 70 something. Still boring at shit. It's the only series that I love the manga to but can't even tolerate watching the anime much less like it.

No the new Negima series sucks its animation is alot darker than the original and I cant think where the original greatly differs from the manga other than it ended to early. An example of how much the newer series sucks would be how they introduce Asaka sayo.
