Most memorable moment in anime

Post by Rezz3166 » Mon Feb 26, 2007 9:35 am

Yeah so the subject is pretty self-explanatory. Name the moment or moments that you'll never forget in anime for whatever reasons they might be. I haven't seen that much anime in my lifetime so I only have three

1) When Hiei from YYH first uses the Dragon of Darkness Flame
2) When Goku and Vegeta first turn super-saiyan.

Only a few shows have those moments for me:

Evangelion
Spoiler :
1. Shinji finds out who's piloting Unit 03
2. Auska gets mind raped
3. Auska get's pwned by a fake Lance of Longinuss in "End of Eva"
Utena
Spoiler :
1. When you realize Anthy and her brother are boinking
2. When you realize UTENA and Anthy's brother just boinked
Full Metal Alchemist
Spoiler :
1. When the Furher kills the chick hiding in Al and her blood is seeping out of him like he is bleeding. It's when we find out he has been a bad guy all along.
Excel Saga
Spoiler :
1. Just kidding.
The Eva ones are the big ones for me.

That's tough because most of my memorable moments come from reading mangas. If I even watch the anime, I've probably read the manga already... mangas are almost always better, same as books vs. movies.

I'm going to say Elfen Lied had some of my most memorable anime moments, partly because I watched it before I read the manga. There were a number of memorable moments, but the ones that stick out the most were probably meeting Mariko Kurama #35 (Holy ^#&@!), and just discovering Lucy's whole sordid backstory in the later episodes. Amazing stuff.

Haha! Yeah, THAT!

In Mysterious Cities of Gold,
Spoiler :
when they find the first city.
I was just a kid and gad, I thought that was so cool! Oh, and for the same reason,
Spoiler :
when the gold condor first appears.
In BeruBara,
Spoiler :
when Oscar dresses as a woman for the first time. I just hated to see her give herself up like that! And all for nothing! What a waste!
In the original Fushigi Yuugi,
Spoiler :
when Tamahome shows up again in the last episode.
In Rozen Maiden: Traümend,
Spoiler :
when you realise the dollmaker isn't Rozen at all.
Reading this over, I feel so unidimensional... no matter how much I loved other shows (Eva, Bebop, ...), I can't think of a single personally "defining" moment in them...

Ooh, nice reminder.

For me it was actually...
Gankutsuou spoiler wrote:When the count says goodbye to Albert, second half of episode 15.
Real turning point in the series, still sends chills up my spine!
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Cowboy Bebop
Spoiler :
Spike's last conversation in the hall with Faye was my favorite scene in Bebop. It was a setup for how pointless and tragic it would make his death seem. She didn't give two shits when he left before, or perhaps she knew he wasn't going to die. But you knew he wasn't fucking coming back when she turned the waterworks on.
Magic Knight Rayearth
Spoiler :
Zagato and Emeraude were in love the whole time. What would've been a mediocre series turned out to be better than I expected with the ending. As shameless and drawn out as the twist was, I thought it was the perfect way to end. Were the execution carried out in better taste, I would have alot more praise for this show.
