Can you convert mkv and ogm to be usable in Primiere Pro?

Post by Jasta85 » Sat Mar 03, 2007 5:45 am

Ok, ive got primiere pro 2.0 but it wont accept mkv or ogm files. virtual dub wont accept mkv files either, are there any other programs which can be used to convert mkv files to avi's? i think i remember reading about it somewhere in the guides but after looking through them again i cant find it. If there is such a section then a link to it would be much appreciated.

The magic word is: Avi Synth.
Download... write a script with (if you need help, look at the site´s guides for avs):

Code: Select all

DirectShowSource("C:\path of file\file.mkv")
and open it with VDM or Premiere. I don´t recommend it to open it in Premiere direct. This method needs alot hardware. Instead: open the script in VDM and export clips in a looseless codec such as Huffy or Lagarith. Also add a temporal smoother filter in VDM. This filter will help you in the end with compression --> Better final results.

If there is a problem with this method; install the new version of CCCP and it will work: http://www.cccp-project.net/
