That would be external, unless the clip originally included such jumps and/or skips.Wheee_It's_Me! wrote:Don't you know...how popular I am...on the Internet? (greatest flash animation ever)Prodigi wrote:It will never end.Minion wrote:ANIMATION SYNC

Ever.
Oh yeah, I'm popular...on teh intarwebs...my magnificent bastard levels are over 9,000!
Here's a random thought though...would scene jumping or frame skipping be considered internal or external synch?

Of course I think both are necessary, but I feel that internal typically best represents emotional or contextual content within a video. External can be used, but only in combination with internal. External's emotional and contextual value is invariably dependent upon internal synch.Cornwiggle wrote:I prefer internal more than external, but I think a good vid has a mix of both. Yeah, match the feeling you want, but still have it look like it fits with the song and you didn't just let it play out.Kionon wrote:Of course I think both are necessary, but I feel that internal typically best represents emotional or contextual content within a video. However, I think the opposite for action vids, for just action vids I think that external synch is more important.

You bring up a good point. And it's important to note that I do not find I typically like pure action videos. So perhaps it's not so much a question of which one is better, but which one is more enjoyable to any particular viewer. For me, that's internal. Videos mostly made of external, ie action vids, just bore me. For you, or someone else, the mileage may, and probably will, vary.Cornwiggle wrote:

Internal sync is the easiest thing to do... I mean, noobs do it constantly, on accident. It's more of a visual anomaly, really.
That being said, I HATE external sync. I mean... it's good if you like it, but I HATE that ppl bag on you if you don't. I take flow >>> sync and internal 'anomaly' >>> external sync.
I however, do LOVE that this is a question though -_- I mean, for a long time Ileia and I (well, mostly Ileia ^.^) questioned whether you could control such an anomaly. I still call it lazy sync.

I think internal sync appeals to me more than external. I like the fact that you use the clips themselves to sync to the beats. It gives it more flow for the video and it is more natural. External while I do think its overdone with special effects I think that if it is done right with internal sync that you can create a great flow for an amv. This has been a topic of debate many times now.
