I think this is a good idea. I don't know how I'd feel if my potential employers Googled me and saw that I participated in AMV Hell 0, with all of its sketchy-sounding sources. I made the track with the intention of submitting it to Hell 3... it ended up in Hell 0 and I confirmed it because, well, what was I to do? The track is in there whether I like it or not.
Sure, I wasn't thinking enough about the consequences of putting myself out in the internet. Heck, at the time it wasn't even legal for me to watch the rest of Hell 0. But employer-accessible sites like MySpace at least give users more control over how their information is displayed. Since here we're not supposed to delete videos or even video descriptions, the proposed idea could be a nice layer of privacy protection that doesn't compromise site policy.

What kind of protection from employers would it be to to have to click on "See full video list" first before seeing Hell0, HotCoffee etc popping up?
If they really want to see what you did before they'll make use of that feature.
I would reccomend to make a real portofolio on an own website, to show around to "normal people" for those situations.
For the standard situations a "my personal best" list should be sufficient.
I just looked, sorry I thought you could edit the download unavailable on the org.
The bad stuff is not allowed on the org anyway so it should be no problem to take those down if you don't want them available anymore.

I like it...it gives members more control over how their profile comes across at a glance, without compromising the site's function as an all-inclusive database. Especially for people like me who have something like 60 entries under their names...if someone recommended my videos to you, you'd have no idea what to download, and would most likely end up getting something crappy
I have no idea how to use this new forum.

We could make all videos visible as the default, and then allow people to "hide" entries as they please. I'm imagining a list that would instantly slide to reveal hidden entries if the "view all" button is clicked. No idea how difficult it would be to implement though. :/
I do the good old "list of my videos you should watch, if you're only going to see a few" in my profile, but it's nowhere as dynamic as the actual video list's format, which shows tons more information.

The fact that I'm already working on a actual page like that isnt the problem. If shallowly searched for one will still end up here. So aside from merely redirecting people do make their own site you could also see it like a customize opportunity. Like Beo said amv myspace is something that would somewhat work. I'd personally not take it to the level of myspace but the basic approach and freedom given there seems to be more dead on with with I'm talking about.Streicher wrote:What kind of protection from employers would it be to to have to click on "See full video list" first before seeing Hell0, HotCoffee etc popping up?
