Dual-Core CPU Usage

I want premiere to utilize both cores in my computer.

Opteron-165 socket 939

How do I go about doing this?

Speedfan is telling me that while I'm editing and exporting, it's only using 1 core 100% and the 2nd core at 25%.

What's going on?

In order to use both cores, a program must be specifically created to take advantage of them. I'm not sure about premiere pro, but I know older premieres aren't.

I know that premiere pro supports multi-core systems.
note sure about pro 1.0, but 1.5 (and I'm guessing 2.0 as well) has dual-core support.
I don't think there are any options that allow you to set how the load is split though.

from personal experience, pro 1.5 works much faster on a dual-core rig than a single-core rig.

Yep. (I have the same processor and premiere pro 1.5)
Lagarith also has an option to utilize dual cores for lossless encoding.

How would I use Lagarith in this manner?
Looking at its options in the Premiere I have now, it's not mentioned dual-core usage. [or does it only appear in pro?]

I'm not quite sure how Premiere works, but when you choose the codec, I would assume there is a configure button next to it. The window that pops up would have an option called "Use Multithreading". Enable that, should work
