well..I remeber sometimes just Total video convertor freezes and not my comp. Also Moviepod[/b] which converts to AAC-mp4 tries to convert those files ( usually it always fails on all mp4's It just cant handle it) but on some mp4's it just doesnt fail..it says it converts, but actually it isnt..I tried taht once and it was "converting" the whole day long but nothing happened..I dont thin it has something to do with my comp =\Wheee_It's_Me! wrote:I'd get better memory, make sure it says "EEC"...and make sure it's expensive...for the SLOWER sticks. Low grade, factory seconds, white label memory is usually the culprit when it comes to system crashes/freezing. Teh processor and mother board can also contribute to it though too.Kevmasterflashdeluxe wrote: The Thing is..Yes, I can convert some of the MP4's with Total video convertor, but about 75% of all mp4's just dont want to convert and my comp freezes on them..
Best file format to use for amvs?

Yeah, I know you don't think it does, but that doesn't change the fact that it *IS* a problem with your computer. I talk to people like you almost everyday, see I do a LOT of computer repair and upgrades and such and most everyone has some dribbling little NONpinion about why they THINK something isn't working...but they're wrong...ALWAYS. And I know you probably think you know a lot about computers and maybe mom and dad think yer quite the computer wiz and all and maybe you even put a couple upgrade cards into yer lil Dell or whatever and all the kids over on the MMORPG you hang out on think yer just the l33test hax0r around, but that doesn't change the fact that it *IS* a problem with your computers hardware.
Now see at this point I'm going to explain to you PRECISELY how I, as an expert, KNOW that it is your computer hardware...now you STILL won't be believe me afterwards, see that's the real bitch about being a tweenage muppet fuck, but hey, maybe it'll help someone else who might be reading this.
You claim that the program works SOME of the time...well guess what? I use that program nearly every day on all sorts of video clips of all different types, sizes, bit rates, etc. You wanna know how many times it locks up for me? Zero. Never.
*shrugs*
Unless you think that the software on your system can magically mess itself up it's a hardware issue...actually even if that were true it'd still imply a hardware issue (ie a bad hard drive).

You totally think wrong about me, you're right I seriously dont know much about computers and I wont act like i would..hmh..I just thought of something..
some of those mp4's have a main Concept Logo when I play them with Wndows Media Player, some not..some make weird sounds when I paly them with Windows Media Player, some have no image then..some dont even work with WMP..its weird..could it be a codec problem?

Possibly, it depends on how screwed up yer system is. I would copy off all your important data and then reformat and reinstall everything from scratch. If you had been manually installing single codecs and multiple codec packs on top of one other it's possible that might cause PLAYBACK issues, however with Total Video Converter that shouldn't be an issue since it's using its own internal codecs for conversion.Kevmasterflashdeluxe wrote: You totally think wrong about me, you're right I seriously dont know much about computers and I wont act like i would..hmh..I just thought of something..

Media Player Classic works perfectly with FLV without hacks. It's what I'm using right now to watch a version of Harehare Yukai made with Gundam action figures.Kalium wrote:Very few, honestly. I wish I could get mpeg1 to look at all decent ...AtomX wrote:It's funny how like. 3 years ago. it was XviD that was the higher quality/smaller size but played on fewer computers, and MPEG-1 was the tried and true safe standard (which IMO it still is the safest one if you want to make sure ANYBODY can play it)

For converting MP4s I use Riverpast Video Cleaner (maybe I'll try that other prog next time I face a problem...) and the prog never freezes on me nor totally crashes, what it does do is spit out nothing but a black screen with some audio... I don't know what to call this but a failure...
To Whee_it's_meeee! that may be true, but keep in mind the org is a strictly a not for profit organization not some business trying to compete on a mountain. Basically until the world truly upgrades to HD-capable and so on the baseline is simply not gonna move ever so incrementally just to conform to you. It won't even move for X.264... though I am considering a move from mpeg-1 to mpeg-2. Still 20th century?? sure, but made for max compatibility (in a 20th century fashion)? Technology will always out pace (for lack of a better word) sensibility. However, what comes out as th new thing is normally expiramental and not worth everybody's time. Whether the world has gone to streaming video or not is not the amv world's problem (though I had uploaded my videos to utoob, gametrailers, myspace, etc. and am considering stage6, this blip.tv thing and so on...). Yes, this new trend may 'out pace' a-m-v.org, but as a non-profit organization, I don't think we care. Use THEM by all means, but most likely, like most hype, they will soon crash like all the .com crap before them. Luckily a-m-v.org has avoided alot of the hype.
Bottom line, MPEG is good enough o.0 (except in the case of MEPs... wich are the bane of our existence anyway...)
