I'm not sure what you mean by "which contest." If you mean which one I'm entering, it's JACON. If you mean which guide I'm using it's this one:

PS- Kionon, is that avatar supposed to be House? If so, I love it.

if your video is already at a widescreen format use this in your avs script it will put the black border on the top and the bottom then resize it to full screen...

addborders(0,50,0,50)
LanczosResize(640,480)
adding borders depends on what the res is to begin with. assuming its 640x360, you should be adding 60 pixels to the top and bottom instead of 50. and i have no idea why you added the resize at the end.

That's okay, once I found the right guide and saved that one file as .mcf I was fine. I was looking at the wrong guide before  (AD & Er's, good for a lot of things, just not the right guide for the job this time.)

Thanks for the help, though. It looks so good now. I can't wait to start my next AMV, though I'll probably have to wait until summer. I want to make my next one even better and I already have a solid idea in mind.

My misunderstanding. That's a guide I've never looked at before.

However, you do know that JACON is providing its own TMPGEnc templates ? It's generally safer to do it their way although it may not make much of a difference in this case. Their profile that they call 720x480 @29.97 is closest to OtakuvideoGeneral. It has a lower bitrate and CD-grade audio.

In fact, the JACON templates are the original Otaku Video (AWA) templates from 2001-2002. The template in the guide is a later version from about 2004.

I know, but I get an error screen every time I try to unzip the folder, so I figured I'd use the one from the guide, since it works, and they can convert it themselves. (That's, of course, assuming I get picked, but looking at the competition from last year I think I might have a shot.) As long as it's high-quality and mpeg2, it should be fine, I think.
