Sounds more like corporatisation of an AMV competition then an AMV competition that looks out for its entrants...
Entries are to be preferably less than a year old.
I saw this rule in last years contest. I also saw that the winning videos were sometimes several years old. I don't really understand the point of putting in rules such as this if they're only recommendations and not actual rules.

Same goes for issues concerning source footage:
The use of fansubs/downloaded footage is not accepted and will result in immediate disqualification.
You contradict this rule in this very thread and then say it's just a recommendation.
Entries can have been entered in, though not won awards, in any other competitions at time of submission. Any video found to have won awards at other competitions at time of entry will be disqualified.
That rule is just silly...

You guys need to be a little more thorough when outlining the rules.

what about the following:
- Videos entered in previous Supanova competitions.
- Time limit for AMVs? (technically someone could enter a 20 minute video under your current rules)
- Formats for mailing entries (you're not telling people to just include the videos like they would with a digital entry so someone could easily think to make a DVD out of their video, complete with menus... its possible >.>)
- Information required for both digital and mail entries.

Productive enough for you Jacky?

Though, even with those changes it's still too corporatized for my liking

Also, I'm glad there's a thread for this competition on the org. This way Lockstock and I can feel free to point out any issues we feel there may be with your competition, without you having one of your trademark hissy fits which would result in the deletion of our posts.

I thought that was a pretty standard anti-trolling rule? At least, Otakon's always had it, though worded differently.

Yea, I really thought no one would be really that bothered to troll. Vengeful ignorance I guess.

Another question, how fast is the computer playing these entries? I don't want to set too high a resolution if you know... you get what I'm saying =P

Standard DVD resolution is the international norm imo =)

Or you could give two copies of the same AMV in different resolutions. But to be honest, bluray hasn't even been standardized yet so standard DVD resolution is the way to go!
