Question reguarding the X movie dvd

Post by Jebadia » Mon Mar 19, 2007 10:19 am

I was dicking around this afternoon and was looking up random dvd info, and came across the listing for the X movie dvd. It seems most sources are claiming it's anamorphic widescreen.....

I must ask...since WHEN? Last I remembered Manga's release of it was 4:3 letterboxed. Was there a new release since 5 years ago?

I wasn't sure, so I pulled out my copy to check. Manga's 2001 DVD of X is indeed a letterboxing of the movie. Unless there's been a remaster that I'm not aware of either (I don't remember Manga remastering ANYTHING except the anniversary editions of Ninja Scroll and Ghost in the Shell), I think the sources are mistaken.

I was thinking the same. Its bad when even IMDB itself has it wrong :\.

Should one watch the TV series before watching the movie? I've been wanting to check both out but if the movie is anything like RahXephon's movie... I'd rather just watch the movie instead of the TV series.
"The people cannot be [...] always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to [...] the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to public liberty. What country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned [...] that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson

From everything I've heard, you should watch the TV series before watching the movie, except omit the step where you actually watch the movie.

I have seen the TV series, and it was good.

The movie predates the TV series by five years and about ten volumes of manga. While it's pretty, the movie doesn't have much else going for it plot- or character-wise. Watch the TV series and you'll be much happier.
