Yeah, I dont really care about getting credit for it I've decided. I mean, its not like I have to prove anything to the vast horde of internet users out there who might want to download my video, and if I ever want to prove its mine I can just point to this site with the release information. I can see using them to introduce people to more fanart, or to advertise this site (which I might start doing, since they were kind enough to let me upload my videos) but alas, like the wired knight, I am lazy...

I just stick credits on if I'm putting the vid up on youtube so it has less chance of people trying to pass it off as their own.

I use credits so that no one will ask me what the song or anime is.
I can't think of anything

I just like to put credits... as much fun sometimes as making the vid is. For some reason, it just doesn't seem complete without them, at least to me, anyway...

I like to think I make pretty intro's and outro's. So its for my own creative masturbation.

I usually use strange enough bands (and sometimes even anime sources, though that hasn't been a real issue yet) that I need to put credits on it so people know who did the song. I haven't actually put credit sequences on my last few videos, but I finally broke down and made a set intro from the beginning of my LAIN DOES NOT DANCE video...mebbe I'll use it.
Life's short.

I don't think they are always necessary and at times take away from a video. I have added at times when I felt it would just fit in the video snuggly, maybe adding to it and at least not distracting. I at times opted against adding intro-outros because I felt it caused stalling times.. Would make sense since my more actiony videos have no credits, and my videos like "neverending love" and "No More Time To Spend In Hiding", have more calm editing than most of my videos have it. I think when watching videos at times "get to the video already". I think people just thinks it makes them look cool, then they could brag about all the possible friends they have by saying who beta tested. It is always nice to give credit though, but a lot of times I think they should just leave that in the comments page. Just my opinion though. If you could make cool outros and intros like some people, it could definitely add to the experience, like with the intro to Project Xanthium.

x2. Or really, in reverse: because so often I forget what songs/anime were used in other people's videos, and I usually am kinda curious but don't care passionately enough to go and find it again on the org.

But mostly because I like the original source and want to give it a little shot of credit / publicity.

I dislike long intros more than long outros. Take all the time you want on outros, for all I care; I've already seen what I came to see.

Another point - intro/exit credits can severely affect the loop-ability of an amv. The best vids are (imo, obviously) the ones you want to watch over and over, and the ones that you can watch repeatedly without them getting stale. Having to sit through 20 seconds of filler between each replay is really annoying. Sure, I can fastforward to skip it, but then I can't just sit back and watch - I have to lean forward and scan forward to the actual video on every single replay.

That's another reason I quit using credits on most vids. Even 1second bumpers can be fugly to look at on loop - I'd rather have black fades be the only thing keeping the video from being one solid loopy creature I can watch until I forget how long I've been watching the rotten thing.

On the other hand there are some videos where I don't want them to be watched on loop until the end blurs into the beginning - I tag bumpers onto those. If I had a neat 'exit/intro' clip, I'd tag that onto those vids, too. I don't make vids like that often. I've downloaded a few vids where I was glad for the random credits because they broke the 'spell'. Those are the videos I don't plan to keep and don't want to watch even twice on loop. If the vid recycles before I click stop, I feel obligated to sit through it again... ^_^;
