A/B Editing in Premier Pro & Preview Windows

1. is there a way to set the video 1 to do A/B editing in premier pro 1.5 or was this feature completely removed.

2. Is there a way to have a separate preview for your source without it being attached or over writing the preview for the timeline.?

3. Where did the navigator from premiere 6.0 go?

1. A/B Editing is gone, only single for you then.

2. I think you mean the source monitor. Usually double-clicking on the clip will open it up.

3. That little gray bar at the top of the timeline is the new navigator.

There should be a source monitor and a timeline monitor both visible by default. If not, then click the little triangle button on whichever one IS there, and select "Dual View" from the menu that comes up.

I don't see any way to separate the two windows, though (at least not in the original Premiere Pro).

Well i guess im SOL on the A/B editing

I know how to get dual view but i dont like them being connected, i usually like to have my source bigger than the actual preview window.

and for the navigation i ment the navigation preview vindow where you could see how much gold you had in you total project.

Thanks for the help but it looks like ill be sticking with 6.0 for a while .

to me its seems like they just just slapped premiere and after effects together to make one program. and took out most of the stuff i liked about premiere 6

As far as I'm concerned, getting rid of A/B was a <i>good</i> thing, because now you can put video transitions on <i>any</i> video track, not just Video 1. But that's just me.

I can't believe I just found this now after 3+ years of using this program:

Click the little triangle button on the preview monitor (NOT the source monitor; they have different menus) and select "New Reference Monitor". Then make the original monitor window just the source monitor in Single View. Presto, you've got your separate monitors.
