Sorry I didnt respond, I was at work..
I tried DIVX & XVID but when I read http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/ ... meth1.html I tried huffYUV on a very small clip It still didnt work. With that one I thought maby it was because the clip I converted was so small to begin with I wouldnt need anything smaller? I dont know But I have no where near the amount of hard drive space I would need to convert the entire movie file. I thought maby it was something obviouse someone could point out. Usually the answer is right in front of my face and I just dont see it. Im going to try and find a trial for the Vegas program you recomended. Thank you all for trying to help :lol:

This has happened to me when I used to use WMM, although to be fair the episodes were encoded with...WMV, I think. One episode would get to like 90-something percent and then just stop, and when I cancelled there were no clips in my collection. This was before I read the guides and knew about file conversion and such, and I just went without that episode. If this is happening for everything you're trying, reading the guides and all, I don't know what to say...it might be the fact that WMM is just a crappy, schizofrentic program, or it might be something fixable.

I don't know quite how to help, because it sound slike you're doing everything you're supposed to. Don't use Lagarith, WMM doesn't like it. Try making a longer HuffYUV file to test (if hard drive space comes to be an issue, tough - lots of room is necessary for making videos). If that doesn't work...I'm out of ideas?

The only other thing I oculd possibly think of would be that maybe your files have audio attached to them, although it's doubtful since you mentioned using VOBs. If they are muxed with audio, it may help to disable the audio in VDubMod, by going to the Streams tab and down to Stream List and disabling said audio stream(s), then saving your file as HuffYUV.

it is quite possible that your clip was too short to make "smaller clips" out of... and im betting thats probably the problem...

~~~~~~~~~~
I know Ben might have come off as a jark :P but he just might be right on that one, that for now you might have to just "suck it up" and take it... if you want to work on your video right now...
but i also look into Arigatomina's advice... i think shes the most experienced person with WMM that i know O:
~~~~~~~~~~

As for programs:
Pinnacle has a similar "scene detection" thing from what i know of it (i usually only use it for capturing though) i believe Premeire has the same type of "pool" that Vegas has... (not sure but magix might as well)

Vegas just happens to be the program i use as a main editor, theres plenty of programs out there to try if Vegas doesnt suit your tastes... (Vegas' trial is like 60 days... i believe)

theres a list here to help you choose one thats right for you

Its weird you mention that because they did have audio wich I didnt understand how concidering I coppied the VOBs straight from the VIDEO folder on the DVD I never touched the audio Yet once I was done encoding I realized they still had sound. Maby that had something to do with it? I thought maby the reason was because the video was in both english and japanese so the english was in with the VOB and the japanese was in the audio folder? I really have no idea how that works But I folowed your advice and re-encoded a small section (5 min) with out audio to see if that would help. It didnt but it was a good idea though. This is the first time im making one from an actual DVD so its very possible thats where I screwed up. I DL'd the vegas trial that seems to be doing good thank you all for your advice

the .vob files do contain all video angles (or tracks if you prefer) and all audio tracks for that particular segment of the dvd.

it's a bit of a process to get dvd footage to be editable, but in the end the quality will be much better.
you may want to grab something to snack on and drink before looking at eadfag because you should read up to "Avoiding and Fixing Common Video Problems"

basically you'll want to index (part of) a vob using DGIndex
write a small avisynth script to get rid of the interlacing
open that script in virtualdub (or virtualdubmod) and save a small segment.
It's all explained in the guide
