If you have questions about compression/encoding/converting look here.

Report: using the current 1.3.12 version reduced, but did not totally eliminate, the garbage frames on existing Lagarith clips.

On my primary machine (Athlon64 X2), using Magix MEP11, a particular clip (duration 0:34:09, 704x396, 24 fps) which had multiple bad frames, now only has one at 0:27:00. The same clip on my notebook (Pentium M), also running Magix MEP11, has problems at 0:21:21 and at 0:27:00. Interestingly, my desktop also used to display garbage at 0:21:21 using an older version of Lagarith.

It may be that the clip itself has an issue that is caused during the encoding process. I used my desktop (it is a dual core machine) to create the clip and I used the multithreading option in Lagarith.

Loading up my Body Language project in which the clips used were encoded with Lagarith, I cannot find a bad frame now except in a clip which I eventually used only a single frame from (for the inset of the 'title' screen). Previously, I got lucky and none of the clips I used exhibited problems on my desktop except one, which I replaced with a very similar clip instead. Checking that problem clip now shows that it is not displaying the garbage frame issue. On my laptop, which had a few garbage frames (iirc, about 4), all but one of the problem frames are fixed now. It's during a 'pan up' scene (at 1 second into the actual video, which corresponds to 0:13:01 on the final release). There are 2 extra clips that I did not use in the final AMV that exhibit a problem frame on my notebook but not my desktop. The clip used in the title screen sequence still has a problem frame. All other unused clips (3) play clean now.

have you tried a lags encode on a dual core machine and turn off multi-threading? could that have been the impetus of the problem all along? I have tried on a limited basis and so far, fingers crossed, i haven't gotten anything bad happening yet... but it is something to try...

I want to say that it is Scintilla but I can't without going to check my old project that I was working on. Since I deleted everything I was using in that project I'll just check the last settings I used when I get the chance.

Yes.. Recompress is checked (maintain data rate i think) and the lag export settings is set to always
