COOK: As far as Ace is concerned, I feel inclined to stick with Ace as the name. Every script that we’re writing goes through approval with Toei, and they have requested that we stay as close to the manga, as released by VIZ, as possible. They want us to keep character names, place names, item names as they are in the manga. Ultimately, what you read in the manga will be what you hear in the anime. I have no intention of changing names. Now the edited TV version may change some things to match up with what was done in the past, but the uncut version will most certainly have the original names.

So at the very least, no more Trace, no more "Chaser", and hopefully nothing similar. I can live with "Zolo" as long as the uncut subtitles refer to him as "Zoro"

Hopefully when the new dub airs, they'll show all episodes and scenes that 4Kids cut out. Not to mention thestory content altered by that evil organization.

From what was said in my newsletter,

"Funimation's version of the show will begin with episode 144"

this might mean on TV, even so, as long as the navy isn't carrying super soakers on their backs, it wont be so bad.

I'm glad this slaps those people who thought something like this would never happen in the face.

Every recent dub I can think of that Funi has done has been great, so I have high hopes for this.

my guesses(based off of recent work)

Nami: Winry Rockbell

Luffy: Kid Goku

Sanji: Proper variation of Trunks

Zolo: Kurama/Dorchete

Uusop: Variation of Yamcha

Anyone else wanna take a shot?

epscially the main inspiration for Zolo becoming a great swordman dying instead of getting sick and never being seen again

better in Funi's hands then those idiots
