Don't use screencaps for still images -_-... Just lower the velocity to zero.

Sometimes, for whatever reason, you can't lower the velocity to zero though. Unless there's some way to type in the value of the opacity, you have to deal with the green bar across the clip, and that only goes down in fixed increments which, at least for me, are sporadic in their value. For example, sometimes it'll go down in increments of 3%, and then I'll close the project and open it later and now it'll go down in increments of 4%. I dunno why, but obviously if the increments are set at 3%, you can't lower it to 0%.

Dude just type in 0%. Thats what I do.

Of course first step is. Right click the clip>Insert Envelopes (or whatever)>Velocity
Image

When the Velocity thing appears there will be a slightly bigger Green part at the way left. Right click it>set to> whatever percent you want

I think that causes crashes if you're using AVISynth scripts as source.

What, Vegas doesn't have "frame hold" functionality anywhere?

And as long as you use a lossless format like .BMP, what's wrong with using screencaps?

Well you can use screencaps. I just find Stilling the video to be easier.
