Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

I think you should say it that way, 2 & 1/2 on the video is somewhat misleading since I was expecting something 'special'.

I really didn't think this was that bad a video considering the whole thing surrounding Sailor Earth as a "bad editor" or whatever, it was pleasing to watch and no where near as bad as some videos I've seen..

Obviously the main issue was interlacing, but that's been addressed by others in the thread so I don't think I need to say any more. But being honest it didn't really bug me too much considering some interlacing I've worked with in the past. Oh and there *were* some quality issues, the filesize wasn't bad but I would've happily downloaded a higher size if it meant better quality video.
Other things that were kinda off were semi-sloppy lipsync (the sync was there, the extra frames for smoothness weren't..), cleaning up around masks/overlays, cleaning up frames in general where pixellation was obvious, some syncing issues, and overusing colour masks. The colour masks were effective for the first few but after that it became somewhat predictable and much less effective.

The song's a common choice.. not a bad choice, and with some good lyric sync especially at the beginning. Queen aren't exactly the top of my list in musical taste and Bohemian Rhapsody somewhat annoys me but good incorporation of the lyrics and music throughout made it watchable (all the way through!)

The timing/flow of the video ("speed sync" as I call it) was sometimes perfect but sometimes out the window.. some scenes seemed too fast and some seemed too slow, but overall, a good balance between fast & slow. Some scenes where speed changes were obvious also seemed quite out of place, maybe some less obvious changes or different scenes could've made this better?

There was a story throughout and good representation of the characters covered.. I've not actually seen Trigun fully but I understood enough of the video to get a good jist of the series as well as the story of the video. Which is always a good thing, videos where it's just random clips or shoving random characters in everywhere don't do it for me, the focus was clear and the characters were well covered so it's good in my book.

I'd give more thorough comments on some parts but I don't feel up to it since it's getting late, I'm half-writing an essay while typing this and my head is killing me.. let's just say I was pleasantly surprised from the "hype" surrounding you as an editor as well as some of the comments in this thread, I'd say it's definately worth a chance and it's seriously not as bad as others are saying it is. :)

[edit] As for the time spent.. I spent time across 3 months to make my last video and it's still not anything "special" I'd say (judging by what people class as "special", that is), it just depends on how fast it takes you to find what you need and then edit the video :|

..And yes I'm prepared for anyone who wants to laugh at my comments since they're actually somewhat positive, but everyone's allowed an opinion

The fact you had to write that much to address the videos issues and have a attempt at an encouraging reply in my book says something.

There are too many problems with the video that the audience needs to overcome to actually begin to enjoy it and for that reason, I didn't.

hey that was cool. i liked it. my friend has shown me a few trigun videos on his computer and i like this one better than those. except for that tainted donuts one. that ones da bomb. but the rose petals make vash look gay. its ok on rim. she's a girl. but i like the wolfwood part. he's cool. a preacher with a gun. that's awesome.

Not bad. Fix up some of the video quality and you might have a pretty good Trigun video on your hands. Aren't enough good ones imo. Its a good song choice too.
