Is it possible to run Premiere 6.5 without a video card?

I have a dual core pentium 4 proccessor and 600MB of RAM, but I don't think my laptop has any place to connect a video card, so I'm wondering how that will effect Premiere 6.5. Also, how much better is Pro 2.0 (I'm thinking of upgrading)?

A video card is what displays stuff on the screen, so as long as you can see images on your screen, you can rest assured that you have a video card. With laptops it's usually just integrated in the motherboard, rather than a "card".
Perhaps you are referring to a video capture card or something? You don't need one of those either.

As far as Premiere Pro, I wouldn't recommend it on the system you described, having only 600MB of ram...

Thankyou vey much. I meant a high end card by the way, like the kind you use to play Doom 3 at maximum resolution. Anyway, that answered my question.

A high end video card will have absolutely no effect on premiere 6.5. I think premiere pro might take advantage of it, but probably wouldnt make much difference.

As far as I know premiere does not take advantage of your video card. It relies on CPU and RAM to work. You shouldn't have any problem working with 6.5 (I have an old AMD 1700+ and 1GB of RAM and premiere works satisfactory allthough it is a bit slow

) If you plan to upgrade to pro you really should buy more RAM. Anyway if you want to follow my advice stick to 6.5 You are using a laptop after all and even with more RAM it will be slower than a similar desktop computer. Use pro only if you really can't do without all the extra features it provides

I think Premiere Pro actually does use the graphics card to do some of it's effects, but it can do them just fine with a lesser card, just a bit slower.

Actually it's Pro 2 that takes advantage of the graphics adapter - for the preview.

Pro is heavily based on ram for the previewing, the more the better. You do need a graphics card to use openGL in after effects would help with functionality but not essential.
