Is there a way to remove the local download option on a video?

Only if your name is Tom.

there is a way, but you usually have to have a pretty good reason for wanting the local file removed.
stuff like, "I don't want people to steal it and put it on youtube" and "it's a bad video and I don't want people to see my bad work because I'm better now" doesn't seem to fly

to make a request you have to go to your members main page and click on "edit my videos"
one of the links should be "request deletion" or something like that.

If you want your video to be removed from local, reason most likely must be :

1. Your file is corrupted, and is not playable at all. (people who can't play mp4 are not counting).
2. The file you uploaded is not fully uploaded. (that is it misses out like 10mb or something like that. this may happen because of uploading issues).
3. You have fixed some editing errors in your vid,and want to re-upload a new version. (like removed few effects,or fixed the audio).

There are other good reasons, but I don't know 'em o.O

actually for your #3 you would have to make a new entry for it... removing effects would = new video to me (a mod may dissagree with me)... same goes for adding effects...

fixing quality issues (such as visual quality or audio quality) are acceptable though from what i know

If it's just a simple remaster or correction of a few errors (extra frame(s), off sync, bad audio), replacing the old file without making a new video listing would be better.

A new video entry would be preferred for an updated version of an older video where there are significant changes to warrant it being a different video. Depending on how much change is taking place (changes to the video that significantly alter the pace or theme, entirely different effects, major scene changes, or additions), this may warrant the new version deserving a new unique video page since the video is now a remake.
