Re: NDK Judges Best in Show: Hold On To That Feeling
I don't get your reactions. Seriously guys come on.
1. Was the video good? - It was OKAY.
2. Good Song? - Yes definitly!
3. Good editing? - Hell no
4. Good Anime Choice? - GTFO
My problem with this:
All those Anime thrown together didn't connect. You have those overused 5 cm/btc stuff and tgltt and popular stuff like ttgl so that probably everybody can see something in this and then there is FMP (thanks Pwolf) but they totally don't play together on a visual base or in tone. There is some IN YOUR FACE lyric synch but really nothing holds this together.
In case you don't get what i'm saying i don't think this was bad. It was a nice attempt that could have gone way beyond what you just did. But all your reactions plus this winning the contest nearly made me doubt my own taste.
It's a con video. It has a catchy song and multipl Anime lots of ppl know. It's a crowdpleaser and it probably works as that ... and thats it.

I appreciate and respect your opinion about our video but don't discount what other people's opinions are because you simply don't agree with them. Not everyone has the same views on overused sources and how a video should be edited. Also, the video didn't "win the contest", if any video "won the contest" it would be Pencil Head.Cenit wrote:stuff

I can't help but feel the transitions seem sloppy and rushed. Something about the way the fades and dips were done makes them look clipped before they hit 0% opacity. Also the stacking of short clips to pad out long notes killed the mood early on for me (first verse).
It did get much better afterwards though.

Re: NDK Judges Best in Show: Hold On To That Feeling
Holy negativity batman o__o Geez, way to pin down the joy of releasing a video and having a good audience response to it.
I actually loved the editing in this one, for one. The fades didn't bother me and I really like the way it meshed together as far as 'flow' or whatever you want to call it. There was a lot of different things being synced to, with the two different editors' preferences somehow obvious, but it didn't come out random or chaotic. Actually that worked really well. Otherwise this is definitely a case of less is more in terms of editing - nothing fancy, but it all works.
I'm still not totally a fan of doing dramatic/sentimental videos with a lot of sources, but I think that's as good as you get as far as keeping it together and if not style or story, at least preserving the overall mood. Made me feel all nostalgic and stuff
Liked it in PE and I think I like it even more now. Took a while to grow on me.

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Re: NDK Judges Best in Show: Hold On To That Feeling
Oh I'm glad ya'll released this! I'm even happier that you did so well in NDK.
I personally agree on some level with Bashar and Cenit. I think some of the fades and blackouts were a little unfitting with the music/sync. But it was just a minor point in the overall scheme of things.
That being said, I think it was a fantastic mash-up. The concept and its execution was fantastic, and the overall feeling was great. Extremely fitting and the type of scenes you chose worked well with the music chosen.

Re: NDK Judges Best in Show: Hold On To That Feeling
I respect your opinion and maybe i was overreacting. This winning judges plus 10 superfavorable comments (some calling it best of the year VCA and so on) really raised my expectations skyhigh. Needless to say after watching it i was disappointed.Pwolf wrote:I appreciate and respect your opinion about our video but don't discount what other people's opinions are because you simply don't agree with them. One can see that you 2 enjoyed editing it. Its a nice simple idea but ... like i said. Reactions went through the roof and i don't get it. It's probably since i still haven't figured out how to make a video for the masses.
Sorry if Drama. Keep it going!
