As far as the soldiers thing goes, I know there are may exceptions, but that also depends on what kind of combat they've seen. I do know several soldiers, from many different places. My 12th grade English teacher was a vietnam vet (in Colombia, go figure), and a Black Belt Karateka. He was very interested in all types of combat just like me, and every now and then I'd stay in during the break just chatting. But he absolutely hated the war. His unit was a particularly nasty one too, they set traps up, one of 'em had a necklace or belt made of penises.
Of course, there are many others who'd want to enlist out of patriotism alone.

To each his own I guess, but the more you know about combat, the less likely you are to want to hurt somebody. :?

The big question is, how many still yearn for combat once they're in it (and afterwards, assuming they've hopefully survived)?

Vietnam, for instance. How many veterans of that war do you think would want to go back? How many wanted to be there in the first place?

But yeah, when you aren't forced to go into combat and having flying death to back you up, I can see your point about wanting combat.

Well I do think this war is neccesary and I don't personally care what the rest of the world thinks anyway. I voted for Bush and I pay lots of taxes to support the army and dammit I want it used. I am pissed at bush's dad for not going in the first time the iraquis violated the no fly zone. But better late than never. I don't see a long drawn out fight here mostly mass surrenders of Iraquis who want a better life anyway. The real enemy is France I hope bush realises this soon.

I'd reply in anger, but I don't care enough.

That's why Americans have never lost and never will lose a war, because the very thought of losing is hateful to Americans. Now, an army is a team - it lives, eats, sleeps, fights as a team. i was at work when Bush made the annoucement. lol the only reason i watch him shoot his mouth off is to see his blow smoke out of his own ass!! hahahaha my god! does he really think Saddam is going to leave his very own nation in which he has total control over (totalitarianism (sorry about the spelling, ^^ i can barely say it))

he has access to thousands of nukes! what makes Bush think hes not going to fire each and every single one of them (well not all of them but you get my point) right up the U.S's ass! no offence or anything. Saddam could give a fuck about americans and there lives. i think this is a VERY bad choice in my point of view. basicly Bush said "in 48 hours, U.S and Iraq are going to war (AKA: a push button war)

theres my point of view ^_^

Too bad that "big ol' bomb will do nothing but "collateral damage"*. I'd be truly surprised if they actually GOT Saddam with a bomb.
