Re: G³
This was a really nice video and message. You spared no Hugs and Kisses in this one.
Technically, you had some really good transitions with the lens burn effects. There was a particular section I really disliked, the way you incorporated the anime clip into the real footage at 00:47-00:49. What you get is 2 interesting clips struggling for the attention. I would have used a generic georgeous scenery going in and out of focus in place of the real footage.
01:59 - 02:04 - The lyric is really powerful - "you're my backbone, you're my cornerstone", but the scene selection is weak. Could do with something much stronger from 'Kids On the Slope'
Overall, great uplifting video, well done.

Re: G³
Oh I've had an idea for this song planned for a while! XD Just waiting on the source to be released, anyway the point is your mood matches exactly what I envisioned for this song. Soft, positive, hopeful with a tinge of sadness fits with this song/video combination perfectly and I really liked the integration of the music video (though some might argue this ruins the AMV) because the original MV had a very warm colour palette that matches nicely with the mood of the song. Your idea to use burn overlays also helped blend the two together pretty well. I do think at times it was a bit strong (a bit too orange and bright) and some scenes I didn't quite agree with (just didn't fit as well as others) but those are minor issues.
Overall really nice! I've always loved your editing style because your cuts are so perfect, they're so smooth and just kinda...meld the video together. I don't really know how to describe it other than the fact it makes the video really nice to watch. It's easy on the eyes? xD It's like our eyes are being swept along in some sort of flow/direction without too much strain/effort. The jist is, it's nice. XD Keep up the good work!

I'll just quote the stuff I agree with and add my own input after:
Other than that, I really love your AMV. Very nice effects, good flow and spot on feeling.
Should've stepped it up a notch and call it G4

Pretty much sums up most of my thoughts on it. One thing that I didn't really like was just the flow of the feeling (This sounds really gay in my head), but I guess its like... I couldn't feel the flow of feeling the scenes matching the feeling of the song at certain times where its happy, sad or like indifferent (I dunno). I guess the best way to describe it is like I saw the happy scenes with happy scenes and sad scenes with sad scenes but like... no transition going from happy scenes to sad scenes or something like that... Which is just a personal opinion on my part but its whateverAimoAio wrote:the point is your mood matches exactly what I envisioned for this song. i really enjoyed this video, and it's probably my favorite video that i can think of integrating music video clips. there were a few scenes or so that felt oddly placed (eg 1:34,), but the scene (& anime) selection overall was really on point and made this for me. on a first watch some of the music video scenes seemed a bit dragged out but after reading the description and understanding what you were going for i was able to get into it and i think the a/mv balance was nicely executed; it also took a second watch to get into the song (and aww phillip phillips is so cute). videos with this kind of mood and atmosphere make me want to open up a vegas timeline and start editing. nice job

That would be more fine,of course.lloyd9988 wrote:I'll just quote the stuff I agree with and add my own input after:

If you put that effort(time) in your next projects, that would be fine.Taite wrote: I don't really think I improved so much as this is a different style of video I just spent more time on haha. Dunno what you mean by "vertical transitions."
Thanks cecco! and lol don't laugh, my struggle was real ):
And i mean about vertical transitions: 0:55,0:59 ect.
Keep it up funny.

I don't support this kind of videos and I never wi...OH WAIT!
No, this is well done, it's an exception and different from most
of the stuff around here, not for the concept but technically better
than the others, the style is so cool and fits 100% with the music!
Atmosphere also makes me like it even if the music is not my cup of tea.
And I like it a lot, so re-viewable !
I really enjoyed it

Thanks very much! And I appreciate the offer (:InsaneWaya wrote:I enjoyed this quite a bit. I liked a lot of the transitions from the video to anime there was one i didn't really think fit but the rest i enjoyed a lot. All around good job
And if you ever need a extra beta tester i would love to help with any future vids (I actually quite enjoy beta testing)
Definitely no purpose to watching any further if you don't like "videoclips of the songs."Shui wrote:Stopped watching after a Minute... I don't like it when people use footage from the videoclips of the songs. Destroys the whole mood.
This could've been great.
I agree on :47. I really wanted to integrate the anime and music video more because it felt too easy it being such simple cuts, so I kind of just went with it, but it's too out of my comfort zone for me to tell if it's ok or not.andrewbee wrote:This was a really nice video and message. 1:59 was one of the sections inspired by the original mv which focused on friends. A more dynamic clip could have been used, but I really wanted to slow things down at that point and the clip worked for me.
Thank you!!
Looking forward to your video with the song, except you're probably going to upstage me! ):AimoAio wrote:Oh I've had an idea for this song planned for a while! Hmm I kinda see what you mean, but not really. I see any "transitions" between the happy and sad as being any changes in the song, because that's what I followed. But it's not so much happy vs sad in this video, I was kind of going for happy/romance more than sad (I don't think scenes of people crying necessarily being sad unless paired with a dramatic lyric/emotional song in which it's quite clear it's meant to be sad, whereas in my video it's just meant to represent the dynamics of relationships with all those emotions and such.) Hopefully this explains what I was going for better? I tend to explain/edit things in an untoward way sometimes.lloyd9988 wrote: Pretty much sums up most of my thoughts on it. No I definitely like hearing different people's interpretations and opinions on things (: I don't really take anything to heart or too seriously since the way I see it is I'm done with the video, but I love to see what would be viewed as "crit" since that's how people interpret my vids. So thanks Brad! (:
Thank you so much! :59 was part of the anime, I did :55 (I think that's more noticeable if you look back at it now since all my "vertical" transitions were meant to mimick :59.) I'm still too fresh out of the editing stage to know if I like it or not, but I like the idea of a different transition, and it also follows the mv, so I'll have to disagree, but thanks!Cecco wrote: If you put that effort(time) in your next projects, that would be fine.
