Re: Chaosprojects Video Dump of 2016
Okay, so on my subway commute, I have now watched:ChaosProjects wrote:Go forth my child!Kionon wrote:Oh my lord, yuri, traps, and MIA. This is truly a bounty. Blessed be to ChaosProjects, and hallowed by thy name. *downloads*
We have brought forth quite a bounty this year for the enjoyment of all.
What Rin Wants: I have, of course, seen the anime. And of course this video is deeply unsettling, but so is the anime/manga itself. As it should be. Chaos has done a really great job here of using very simple cuts and fades on appropriate scenes with maximum level of discomfort. The song itself wasn't max creepy. It would have been interesting to use a higher pitched or more childish cover of the song for insane levels of heebie jeebies, but I also understand that audio editing itself is really difficult to make sound good.
As to the social background, and the cultural conflict of a mainly non-Japanese viewership of a Japanese source, I won't say extremely common place issue in Japan, but there's a great deal more tolerance for this kind of behavior in Japan, as long as the adult maintains control of the situation. Honestly, I think I've seen two fourth grade students act precisely this way (I think Rin is either 5th or 6th, iirc?), and the general social reaction is "crazy kids, hilarious right?" and it's kind of shrugged off. It's also not terribly uncommon in the higher grades for students to confess to teachers, either verbally or with letters. Again it is the responsibility of the teacher to be appreciative and respectful but also clear about shutting it down. Usually confessions are from girls, and target teachers can be either gender. I've received four confessions in my nine years teaching, one was in person, three were letters.
Traps: Yay Traps! Great editing, good song choice. I liked the variety of chosen traps, but they are faaaaar too new. Where are my 80s and 90s traps, Chaos? Disappointed.
Anarchy Angels Do It Well: I love MIA, have for years, and of all of her songs, this is my favorite. And I like Panty and Stocking. I really, really, really wanted to love this video, but I ended up only liking it a lot but not loving it. The reason is because I actually felt the lyric sync was a bit too loose. Chaos did a good job on the beat sync, and some of the internal sync, but there are some really specific lyrics in the song, and the official video does a good job of its own literal sync with chains and the cars that match. I don't know the source material very well, and maybe it's just the case that the scenes I'd like to imagine don't exist in the source. But that's why this was like 85% of the way to awesome for me, but just not quite there. But make no mistake, this is still Top Shelf Fan Crap. TOP SHELF.
More later.

All shit. Every one of them.
I give them an average score of 87 out of 24 points. My worst score ever.

No, but seriously, Chaos. Good stuff. We need to get back on topic about how top shelf this top shelf shit is, or else I am setting a bad example as a mod. I'll try to watch the rest on my commute home.

Heh..it is all good..trust me I am quite surprised at the reviews anyway. It has been quite awhile since I really uploaded anything to the Org. but wanted to make sure I remembered this year. So as long as we making top shelf shit I am good with that..never had a problem with that. So always happy people are stopping in and checking them out anyway.

- Less than 3 Traps
- Senpai will never notice how crazy in love you are
- The Most Amazingly Perfect Love Story (kinda generic from an originality perspective but still nice)
