well if u buy bootleg your money is going to the chines drug trade. also its not always done well like there may be no american or japanes audio tracks or something maybe the sub titles will run of the screen it might be missing an ep here or there stuff like that. also u migh buy it then they might never send it to u so u might get ripped off

Hello all :)

I'm from the UK and get the majority of my anime DVDs from www.dvdsoon.com - fantastic Canadian suppliers who are generally the cheapest for all genres (especially when you pre-order) not just anime...

Things to note if you've never used them before:

FREE INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING (when you choose the standard carrier option). Delivery to the UK usually takes 1 week with this selection.

NO CUSTOMS CHARGES - they mark down each item as having a value of $12 Canadian (even if it's an 8 disc series box) so if no more than 3 items ship together the package will be under the £18 limit and you won't get hit.

They charge your credit card when you place an order NOT when they ship your discs - so if an item isn't in stock be prepared to possibly wait a couple of weeks during which time they'll have your money and you won't have your anime to show for it... Personally I have no problem with this because the savings to be made are so significant (I have used them for over a year without any problems)

VERY cheap pre-order prices! For example they had the 9 disc Alien Quadrilogy Box Set at a pre-order price of £30 back in June  Now you'll be paying £45-50. Of course they've had those customers' money sitting in the bank for some months now and the set still hasn't been released - but if I'm saving £20 I don't mind!

For anime you need to pre-order to get the best deals - I've been paying around £10 for each new disc of Noir & RahXephon.

Happy spending!

If you really need cheap dvds, then I think that the bootlegs sold at e-bay, are a very good solution.
I usually use this method ,because I live in Greece and it's hard to get items shiped here...
The hong Kong stores at e-bay Always sell international with reasonable shipping.
The quality up untill now was ok.
There where no eps missing, only a disc once but they resend the whole thing.
I even Got the whole Hikaru no go series and no problems occured.
The subs were always ok with the exeption of my Ayashi no Ceres series where the translation well...sucked.
Also it is not easy to get riped off I disagree on that. Because you know, a negative feedback on a POWERSELLER for28$ is not the best thing for sales.
Anyways it's an easy and cheap way to watch good quality anime.
If you are patient you can get pretty good deals. (Hikaru no go full... 10 dvds= 80$ including shipping from Hong Kong to Greece-Europe)
I think that was a fair deal.
anyways those are my experiences, I am on e-bay for various buys not just anime for the last 2 years and still going.
And Yes I should say 99,9% are bootlegs there!!
I am Da ONE!!

Yeah, alot of chinese DVD's will have horrible subtitles because they'll get pronouns and verbs all mixed up. You'll get something that says "it running very fast!! How?" instead, of "Wow! How can she run so fast?!" And sadly those are better ones.

Also I bought Rourouni Kenshin of Ebay for $15 dollars a disc, which were supposed to be legit from pioneer, but they turned out to be pirated copies. Someone had color copied the disc cover insert and then ripped the disc.... forturnately I got my money back on that one, but you have to be really careful with ebay...
