ADV's Sailor Moon/R Box Sets

What I don't understand is why ADV lost their liscense to the first two seasons, and Pioneer still has their liscense on the other two. Can someone please explain that to me?

It looks like the rest of the licenses are gonna expire eventually too. According to the sos site the ADV licenses were killed so the live action dvds won't have any competition or something like that.

ADV's license was a sublicense through DiC. Pioneer's license is a sublicense through Cloverway.

When DiC's license expired on April 1, 2004, so did ADV's sublicense. Cloverway's license has not expired yet, so neither has Pioneer/Geneon's; it is scheduled to do so sometime this year. The movies expire first, then the S and SuperS seasons a short time later.
