Pretty much AE 5.5 and Premiere 6.5.... Photoshop is also a must.... With the combination of all three, there is nothing that I can't do...

|I Caught Fire| wrote:Hi, I'm like...semi-n00bish and I was just wondering what application you use to make your videos. The application I use it Windows Movie maker, but my friend has been telling me movie maker totally sucks -_- (I think it's "OK".) So I wanted to find out what YOU use so I can have a slight idea on what software to I should buy so I can make videos (If that is possible >_>). Sorry if someone has already posted something about or related to this, but I was to lazy to go and search for it :( . Thanks and Hi in advance! :D

I also occasionally use Premiere/Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, and After Effects.

Not that any of that matters; editing software is editing software, and compositing software is compositing software...all the same paradigm in different skins.

I just want to add my 2 cents to this:

YES, a non-linear editor is the same as any other non-linear editer. However, it's how well they do things and the ease at which they do them. (Don't misconstrew "ease" as the ability to learn how to use an effect). Any type of effect or techniuqe you could possabliy learn is easy. The trick is learning and comprehending how to apply it consistantly. It maybe hard to understand at first, but once you "get it" you "got it". That is, once you've learned the process, dupplacating it will seem like the simplest thing in the world. This applies to any computer program.

To put it into perspective, try telling Peter Jackson to use WMM to cut together an epic film like The Lord of the Rings. Of course he's not. His editors used high-end avid systems. Do you need Avid in order to make a master piece of an AMV. No, but if you can afford something like Premier Pro or even Premeir 6.5, go for it.

However, there are plenty of videos composed in such programs as WMM that are sometimes better than vids done in programs such as P. Pro. The thing that will set your video apart from the rest is not the program that you use. It's your creativity and consant deadication that will make or break the watchability of your vid.

"Crap in Crap out"; "Pour sugar on a piece of crap and it's still a piece of crap." At the very least remember one of these quotes when your brain storming for a vid.

So, yes; every editer and post production program is esseintially the same. You have to deside which one will caitor to your creativity and more importantly, your wallet

Im currently using Premiere Pro 6.0
After Effects 6.5 (Trying to learn how to mask is harder than flash =\ )

I know how to use WMM and Ulead Video Studio and Media Studio

I know nothing on how to use Vegas 5 yet still have it... for one of those days i might actually learn to use it.
