Hi, first post for me.....

I am the current president of the Newcastle University Anime Club in Australia (and have been for the last 3 years or so), so the rules might be a bit different in comparison to a school, but some of the ways we run our club are:

* Keep notes of all official stuff, so you can show whoever is overseeing the club that you can stay organized.

* We usually have a annual general meeting at the start of the year, to elect the president, vice president, librarian, secretary and treasurer (if you are getting funding)

* Keep a track of all of your members, and be sure to get all of their details before you let them access the library (we have about $1500 worth of DVD's, and some have gone missing over the years

*Try and be friends with some of your local anime suppliers, try for the small independent stores, they are generally keen to support anime clubs in the area.

* As mentioned in one of the previous posts, contact some of the major distributors, and see if you can get some cool stuff (i have an arrangement with madman, and they send us free posters, sample DVDs and the like whenever i want :D

* We use a democratic system for the selection of series to watch, but then again, we do watch ALOT, considering we have 2 X 3hr anime screenings a week.
Simply ask members for a list of random series, and if the club doesn't own them, see if anyone is willing to let the club borrow a member's copy. Vote, then enjoy!

* Our screening nights go for 3hrs, generally one on Monday, and the other on Thursday, and we usually watch 2 episodes of 3 different series per night.
We also keep it that one night is dedicated DVD's, the other is Fan subs.

* We seem to vote on everything, in order to keep the majority of members happy (eg vote for subs or dub)

* We have a movie night every couple of months, with advertisements to try and get new members, and generally have a BBQ and soft drinks. They always seem to go down well.

* ORGANIZE a tracking system for your library, i cannot stress this enough.
Just keep a book with who has what and when they took it, and set a limit for the time period of borrowing anything (generally 1-2 weeks).

Thats pretty much how our club runs, and it seems to work rather well, fortunately we are funded by the student union, so we get $500 to play with each year.
:D

The reason i joined this site was to look for some good AMV's for the university's Orientation week, which we have a stall at. It always gets a lot of attention, as we have our computers set up with amv's running and (if it gets organised) a computer set up with melty blood with gamepads (read- anime fighting game)

Phew! That was a hell of a first post!

If you have any questions, feel free to ask, ill help in any way i can!!
