I thought I could make better videos than AtomX.
Then I kind of got tangled in AMVs/editing for the long haul...
No, seriously, the first "real" AMV I made I did because I had seen a lot of AtomX's GMVs and was like "he reuses the same scenes from FF9 every time! I'm going to make something different!" Then I put it on KazaA and some other p2p under his name and hoped they'd download a .rm file...

I make videos because i enjoy doing. A very close friend of mine brought me into it, and at first, when i was making my first video, i wanted to quit because i was clueless on what to do next because i got stuck. But i saw it through, and it turned out to be a decent video (in my eyes, anyway and when i look at it now i think "GOD I WAS A NOOB".) I still kinda am. But thats not the point.
I also enjoy it, and it makes me want to do more when people say that they enjoy my videos. Also because there's only few people out of the Billions in the world who do these kind of things, so its a talent that i enjoy doing.
Side note: I wish to be better than my mentor, Verses.

Your stories are always interesting.Otohiko wrote:My favorite musician, Robert Fripp, had the following answer to this question:
Robert Fripp wrote: When I was 17, I said to my mother: "I'm going to be a professional <s>musician</s> [AMVer]".
My mother said nothing but burst into tears.
When I mentioned this to her in later life she denied bursting into tears. I don't know whether she did or not, I only know that I remember. My mother was afraid that as I got older, I would grow bitter.
...I should have listened to my mother.
Uhh...
Otherwise, I'd say it mostly has to do with my thirst for visualizing music. With my tricky and ever-expanding music listening repertoire, the need doesn't get any less. I hate the technical aspects of editing, but as Fripp would say - I "trust the inexplicable benevolence of creative impulse".
