Re: who is the most asian looking?
The anime Shingetsutan Tsukihime is based on Type-Moon's game titled Tsukihime. In the game, there are nine different endings to five possible storylines. Out of these five, only one has Shiki attracted to Arcueid at all (and in some she doesn't even appear). The anime studio chose to base the animated series on the Arcueid storyline, because it's the most dramatic one.xxxxx wrote:and in tsukihime shiki is obviously more atracted to arcueid the foreigner, than to hisui and kohaku who are japanese.
And God spoke unto the Chicken, and He said: "Thou shalt crosseth the road", and the Chicken did cross the road, and there was much rejoicing.

Interesting topic but I think this goes back to the political correctness of our own country. Only animerica and newtype usa actually care about the race of anime characters. Complaining about not enough blacks in anime for example. In japanese animation as most anime fans know big eyes represent innocence if we are going to take Ranma as an example in the manga Ranma has black hair both boy and girl and remember the japanese themselves have a reddish tint to their hair it's not all pure black. It seems like this country is the one obsessed with the race of anime characters not japan.

LMFAO no it doesn't, and no they are not. If you've ever been to japan you can see that they are clearly japanese (ish for the most part, well the woman are for the most part), also it is a really common mistake to make by people, not because of any bad reason. I used to study psychology and there are multple theories on why judging facial characteristics in such away would arise. In reality it is, for the most part down to a real personal perspective. In alot of the traditional stuff or anime set in the edo period I think people look classically japanese, even when they are not, like in trigun, he still looks very japanese (or at least has adopt the "style" they have) even though he has classically nordic features. Most of the stuff is style, blue hair etc. Take the Soma the soma household (fruits basket) although yes they turn into animals:). In real life an anime character would be like 7"2 with a size 4 waist or something. I dont think it matters at all and unless the designers have a particualr race in mind, like spike in cowboy is based on that guy (obviously the series was based around the influence of jazz and other parodys taken from people like hemingway) or in afro samurai. But like I said don't think generally there is a race, they are a race unto themseleves. Most anime characters are Caucasian - the art represents their ideal figure.

No, read Boys Be, they're supposed to all be different protagonists, but each new guy and girl is identical! O:Rapture** wrote:I think that if anime would show characters as asians, then all anime would look like Akira. Common people, they're all the same! THE SAME I TELL YA!

Not only does that apply to females, but also to males. What about all the bishounen out there with huge eyes? And I doubt there is anyone with naturally violet/orange/gold/etc.-colored eyes. It's the same with hair: no one has natural blue/purple/pink/etc.-colored hair. Really, I think the mangaka just decided to do that to make the characters unique in appearance...SweetAllie126 wrote:i think generally the males tend to look more asian when drawn b/c i don't care what race you are, no girl has eyes the size of dinner plates
