Yes, there was something there: hatred and nothing else.

I always thought shinji and rei would have made a good couple, but then again Rei's just a clone of Shinji's mother, Yui.

That was never really stated, only suspected. There's about as much evidence for that as there is for the statement that Misato is a clone of Ritsuko.

That was never really stated, only suspected. There's about as much evidence for that as there is for the statement that Misato is a clone of Ritsuko.

No, one has quite a bit of things supporting it while the other has none. If you need more "evidence" than her looking exactly like her, her being a clone (of something obviously from the tanks with her in it), Shinji referring to her "motherly touch," having the same eyes as Yui (as referred to by Ritsuko's mother) and so on...well then I guess it IS EXACTLY like Misato being Ritsuko...you know forfeiting all those "coincidences."

Do you honestly need the creators to SPELL it out and tell you EVERYTHING?
