True enough, my point was just that you shouldn't make any particular sort of video just because it happens to be what some random dude thinks is acceptable. Like that guy going "Sure, do whatever you want, but don't do XYZ because I don't like it." Pfft.

Following rules is another matter, and that you do have to watch out for. But that's different from just caving to public opinion. You know? That's all I meant.

Hmm... strange, I believe that's something I read in one of his guides.

And I mean, if you really want your video on but have some doubts about the content, I would contact Phade for that. At least that would clear up any doubts and avoid falling into something with his one-strike policy...
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

I don't think you would have heard those on the radio. At least not the radio in my town!

Corporate radio, as you mentioned, has been bogged down by the crap the labels pay the stations to play.

College radio is run by people with boring tastes in music (as an example, one of the shows on the university-run station here is some girl who thinks the fact she owns vinyl records means her taste in music is cultivated and obscure. Too bad no one has told her about the magic of preamps, because I could barely hear the damn things).

Internet radio has some hope, but most stations seem to stick to one very small segment of a genre, so you have to switch stations every few minutes to keep from being bored.

So I guess that when it comes to learning about new bands, you're on your own nowadays!
(Well, that's what budget label samplers are for)

I'm an mp3 leech, myself. I know! It's bad to use mp3s for amvs, I've heard all about how low the quality is (though I must say I've gotten very high scores for audio - guess I've edited the mp3s enough that they're not so bad), and it's the principle where you should buy the cd, but take for instance my newest idea - using a french song I don't even know the name of but managed to snag off some obscure website and found that it screams 'Berserk amv' - what would make me buy a cd of some french artist when I don't understand the language? And even if I did want to get the cd for the mp3, it's hard to do that if you don't know the name of the song or the artist. Ah, too much music talk on the amv suggestions forum - what about the idea...never seen a French Berserk amv before... 8) I am such a weirdo when it comes to these music videos.

The sound quality in your FF video seemed pretty good, so don't worry too much.

People who care that much about sound quality can start buying DVD-Audio discs (the new Ministry kicked ass on DVD!)

And hey, I thought we established weird videos are the best!

Well, I have used cds for a number of my vids - when I had them. And I've found songs that I'm saving to get the cds for, but I'm not too worried about that. If the quality is bad, I wouldn't use the track, anyway. DVD Audio is foreign words to me - I guess my general hearing's off because I can't honestly see the difference between my cds and half my mp3 collection - my hearing isn't that fine-tuned, or something...loud snorers as a child, that's a good excuse. I'm too poor to buy new anime, can't imagine going for higher quality music when I hardly listen to my own cd collection.

And hai! Weird is good, quite good...I'm all for that. ^_^

Honestly, I could only tell the difference between CD sound (44.1KHz) and DVD sound (96KHz, I think) when I listened to the exact same album on one after the other.

It's better, but you can't really tell unless you're a professional musician, I guess.

Of course, I put my KMFDM collection into 128 KBit MP3's and they sound the same as the CD's to me.

And hey, if you want cheap CD's, check out Underground Inc.'s 5 for $20 deal - you can get some dirt cheap 2 or 3 disc compilations.

You know what would really be cool? Use the song "The Last Resort" by the Eagles (from their "Hotel California" album). It's 7 minutes and 25 seconds long, and I doubt anyone's used it before. Or, what would be awesome, if you could get enough footage from "Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040" of Priss' crappy band, you could use the song "Cover of the Rolling Stone" by Dr. Hook.

Ah! I have that cd - the Eagles one. But it's got scratches over half of it. :( It just doesn't play well at all. But I've thought about using Hotel California if I can find an anime that can be twisted to fit it - the other song, 'Last Resort' I can't remember off-hand. I may not have listened to it often enough. But I would like to see more Eagles songs used...an old favorite of mine. And long songs can be cut down to a manageable length - I've done that before (never used the track, though, weak idea). But I haven't heard Dr. Hook, I may have to look that up (never seen Bubblegum Crisis, either).

Ugh.

Try some of Joe Walsh's solo stuff, it's like the Eagles but without the sucking.

Or Frank Zappa. Not really Eagles-related, but about the same age.
