So, how do you feel about getting an opinion and reading "I really didn't like the song, it wasn't my taste at all, too boring/fast/slow/silly/unintelligible/ British
whats that ment to mean then
but any way back to topic
accualy i have to stick up for the music side, i mean after all it is the whole point of an AMV that u have the music to a film its like the main part!
but even if u say why did u dload an avm with a band u hate in it, ive dloaded many of a amv with music that wasnt my taste but ended up liking that song after i seen it

I dont mind how people justify the comments (people are allowed to be dumb) they make provided they make them in the right place.Kamikaze Devil wrote:So, how do you feel about getting an opinion and reading "I really didn't like the song, it wasn't my taste at all, too boring/fast/slow/silly/unintelligible/ British

Criticism of the song or anime used should go in either Originality, Overall or Reviewable... not in Audio Quality and Capture Quality.

I used Radiohead (one of my all time favorite groups) for a video I made a little while back, and that was the feedback I got for the Audio portion.Kamikaze Devil wrote:So, how do you feel about getting an opinion and reading "I really didn't like the song, it wasn't my taste at all, too boring/fast/slow/silly/unintelligible/ British

No?
Then don't include your opinion on the song in the Audio Quality ranking!!!

A video should not be graded on the song used but how the song whent with the anime. There is no catergorie for the likeness of the song because if u didnt like it you shouldnt of downloaded it. There for the name of that opinion box is sound quality(a thing many still dont understand). ANY video should be graded fairly based on its concept and overall look. If it was suppoused to be a gushy romance video to a song u disliked, who cares, the only question is did it become a GOOD gushy romance video...
Hope that made sense

It did and that's exactly how I grade. If the song is used effectively (even if I hate it), I give a good overall score (since that is not based on opinion..only reviewability is). As for sound quality..that's exactly what it says...Shun wrote:A video should not be graded on the song used but how the song whent with the anime. Althought, it seems, even the definitions of desirable qualities in an AMV are arbitrary. Who's to say you can't do a romance video to rock and pop? A person I know did a action video to "Britney Spears: Baby One More Time" and it was, according to the audio, a hit.
Although, if anyone dares to set a bloody "Kite" action vid to "Celine Dion", or worse, "Enya", it's zeros on song choice.

It's too easy to make "perfect" audio caps these days... [thank God it's still hard to make good video caps] I don't give out 2s if I don't like the song! 8 is pretty damn good considering that 5 is my average. My rating system I think is already pretty damn strict [since it's near impossible to get high reviewable from me...] Also, if I decided to give out 10s for audio cap [since it's easy to do and stuff] then I'd have to go to reviewable and push my average [which is usually a 6] down to FOUR!!! The reviewable is the most important aspect of a vid due to scoring I believe and that can be pretty catastrophic if I give out 10s for audio and 4s for review... So, instead, I've balanced them backwards giving 6s for most vids and 8s for audio. How HARD is it now to make "perfect sounding" amvs eh?
What I think though, is that my scoring is affected by what's being released. Therefore, as digisubs [yes, the bane of all 1337 editors] get better and better with quality [don't tell me you didn't notice it yet] My capture score is going to get FAR worse... [note, I base my 5 average on capture as digisub high quality... Since most digisubs are turning into dvd rips, there's a chance that should EVERYONE on the org use DVD rips, what now? It's the AVERAGE duh... Therefore, in the far future I hope, I may end up giving you people 5s in capture since everyone can easily do a perfect dvd rip...]
I don't score easy. 8/10 isn't bad... [and if you think it is cause I think the song sounds "fine", then you obviously have a number complex of some sort.] I've NEVAR given out BAD scores to songs I don't like... [of course, if I recieve a Linkin' Bark vid that is at 12kbps at 22khz, then um, yeah, I'd have to score it hard and nobody's gonna stop me...]
Go ahead and get mad at me for giving out 8/10's for audio quality that I think sounds fine... I could be giving out 2s...
You know what? I think I'll start just giving out audio 5s from now on since everybody will be very soon using straight up CD rips for their music. If the average amv is a CD rip audio, then I give 5... There, enough said... :p

Also, concerning the thread's title about "only song review", I'm certain everyone who's been opped by me got a LOT more than just...
"I think the song is fine sounding. 8/10 ain't so bad..."
I don't write just that... So don't get on my case since I don't jump on people with 5 page dissertations about why I don't like the song...
