It would be kinda hard to say exactly what the top 100 would be in Japan. Is it based on sales? or polls?

Can't be based on sales... Digimon is 88, Sailor Moon is 83, cowboy bebop is 48, yet Heidi of the Alps is 6?

I think it's the creation of a couple of crack-head nerds during one of their LSD trips. That or the result of a series of coin tosses.

It's supposed to be the top anime (in japan) of all time and it is based on polls. Still the most interesting thing to me is that the top ten has barely changed in fifteen years except for Evangelion and Detective Conan.

But you're right everyone's tastes are different.

Too me out of all of the anime dvd i own i have to say my favoirtes are:

1.Cowboy bebop
2.Rahxephon
3.Witch Hunter Robin (Imported)

In a new one im starting too collected

4. The Last Exile by Gonzo Studio (Imported) it's just a beautiful well written show

Out of those Cowboy Bebop is the best anime too me that came out.
It was complex but also fun with a great adult sense of humor that i haven't seen an any new show yet.

So too all of those Evagalion fans, sorry i don't think that show was all of that great. it was good but not great.

Actually, that list may not be ENTIRELY innaccurate...Lupin has for the most part been constantly well received over there, and as for MSG, besides Gundam's popularity in general, several polls of the Japanese audiences preferred the original series over the spin-off titles
and Doraemon...well...the show's been running for 30+ years, what does this tell you about its popularity?

Well, I can't really say what anime is my favorite, but if you put a gun to my head I'd probably say Cowboy Bebop, simply because it had a huge impact on me. However, even with a gun to my head I would still question whether Grave of the Fireflies was better or not, but that's just because I'm indecisive. Anyway, the point is which anime is the best ever doesn't really matter, and just serves to start flame wars, which amazingly enough hasn't happened yet.
