Y'know I never knew about Iraqi Citizens being paid to shoot at, maim, kill, etc at American soldiers. Goes to show how the U.S is being kept from a few grimy details that tip a lot of people's opinions. *laughs nervously*
But one thing does remain: Humans ARE human and greed is part of that. We see money we want money, just a matter of self control. But in an impoverished land it obviously very hard to decide on the matter. Kill and be paid or not kill and not being able to eat for the next few days.(if the situation is that dire)

Yeah, part of the briefings we get before we go over there is that, "These people get paid by the head. You do not. They have a reason to kill you indiscriminately, and nothing to lose, but you must exercise LOAC at all times." I gotta say that the last people I blame, before civvies that is, are the soldiers and support crew. I got acquaintances in the US airforce whom I respect and talk to gladly. I know you're following an oath, and quite a few of your likes - not for the wrong reasons at all.

Soldiers are soldiers, they're out there to fight, and, unlike most politicians and rabid pro-war civilian voters, they are the ones paying the price. It's mostly an even proposition for them.

Only one station I know regularly has a segment where they correct themselves even if they are only slightly wrong. All the others will only give a retraction if they are sued or something similar.
