Kenshin's weakness was his sword that cant cut Shishio's weakness was his heat(note: his sword can cut so kenshin was hurt alot)
However, as i believe someone mentioned however, if Kenshin DID have a sword that wasnt a reverse blade he still would of lost.
Look at it this way.
Scenario 1
Kenshin gets a regular japanese sword for his fight with shishio, so what? He hasnt used it in 10 years, not to mention the fact he probly couldnt bring himself to.
Scenario 2
Kenshin never got the reverse blade and has used a regular one up to his battle with shishio. This would meen that Kenshin dosent have an oath not to kill and with out those morals he would of never made the allies such as Aoshi and Sano that stalled for him in the final fight. Not to mention Shishio is still a full fledged manslayer.
Scenario 3
Kenshin has a regular japanese sword and has continued to be a manslayer and never became a wanderer to begin with. Sounds like it would be even? Possibly if the fight ever occured, Kenshin as a manslayer would have no reason to really oppose Shishio, for it was his morals of saving Japan that brought him back to Kyoto.
In the end Shishio is stronger then Kenshin, he just is, no matter how you look at it. However half of Kenshins fighting technique is pschologicly. Sojiro was stronger then him but he broke him down mentally. You have to remember that strength is only half of a fight, and there for can not completely determine the outcome.
