The original story of Vampires started withing somehting to do with Jesus' blod being caught in a cup then mixed with Cain's blood.Cain was exiled by God because of his evilness and a symbol was placed on him to know who he was.Either that or Something to do with Vlad The Impale those are the only two things that come to my mind.

The simble on alucards hand is a pintogram from what I can tell but there are other simbles there as well. I saw some criptic, latin(i think), and some others I cant quite make out. As far as I can tell the simble is like a sorce of power for him be it evil or good. It may even be a seal to keep his power from geting out of control.
Only time I say no is if someone asks if I've had enough.

Oh yeah, and regarding the text outside the circle on Alucard's sigil, I checked it out last night and it's basically the same as the text on the inside, except it's written in Theban characters. The thing is with Cain is that the symbol to show of his wickedness was that his skin color was changed.
