i dunno if ne 1s made this point yet, because this is my first time looking at this topic and some of you guy sure do like to voice your opinions in great detail. but the fact that some time eva when from the main story line fo defending japan/the earth from the angle, to a story line like... shinji running away... (twice i thing?) was that it was designed that way to make the veiwer to understand and get to kno what kind of person shinji is, (<-- thats 1 example)

although i havent seen rah yet, EvA pWnZ

and no way is ne 1 gotta take the title of "messed up kids fighting mosters in giant bio mechs" away from it.

I cant believe you would call NGE confusing and random okay it may be a little confusing but you just have to study it then you will understand it

Eva sucks even more!! Only thing I liked in Eva was The End of Eva. The other eps. were boring, uninteresting. I compliment the story, but such strange developing.... . Animation blows, especially Eva designs. Fights...boring and uninteresting (except End of Eva.). I watched it this year maybe that's why I dislike it. Seeing so many better animes IMO I couldn't see anything THAY good in Eva. Of all the characters I liked Rei since she was misterious and always looked sexy . As for others...Asuka=annoying ,Shinji=woos. All others didn't even leave an impression .

IMO Rah>Eva but both suck.

i haven't seen RahXephon, but my general perception is that it's pretty... and has some angst... the story is consistant and you can follow it easily, but maybe that's the problem, not jumpy enough

bum's post didn't really convince me that it copied Eva, it just made me think that maybe there are some things that parallel each other when working with similar genres of film, so hospital rooms being similar is something that would have to be present in psychologicaly powerful animes involving mecha (hospital for healing and such of course)

and by that same token, the fact that the show contains mecha, it's automatically futuristic (otherwise it'd be have to be mystical, for example Esca) so having kule elevators doesn't hit me as strange

the only thing i was wondering about (cause i happen to like the character), you said that the reporter guy in RahXephon was a copy of Kaji, but you didn't really say why... is it just because they're dewds wit suits or what?

i really like Evangelion
the thing i like about it is that it's original and entertaining on multiple levels, almost every character that friggin has a name is memorable and you can really tell what kind of REALISTIC person they are throughout the show as they develop

a lot of people say it develops weird, well that's NOT a bad thing, it's a creative thing, if everything developed the same way, every anime would be the same and the world of anime would suck and we wouldn't have interesting AMVs and this community would not exist. so just because the development throughout NGE takes more mental processes than the average anime, doesn't make it bad, on the contrary, it makes it good, it makes it interesting, it makes it memorable, and ultimately... Good AMV material

Eh, I hate this debate. It doesn't really matter which one you liked more, because they are similar things done in their own way, and the fact that you liked one approach more doesn't mean that it's better.

I agree. This type of "discussion" is really irrelevant and pointless. Everyone has their interests so let just leave it that.

I couldnt remember a single damn characters name, i didnt't care about the characters, the story was confusing as hell, and I often quit paying attention or flat out fell asleep while watching it.

W00T! I thought I was the only one who fell asleep watching it. And yes, I could never remember their names. So much damned melodrama.
