I'll be there. Looks like I'll be MC for Japanese Animation Hell.

I'll also enter the AMV contest and be more'n happy to introduce out-of-towners I know to the wondrous watering holes that exist a short walk away at Easton.

Fado is to die for.

MistyCaldwell wrote:Last year their amv contest was pretty bad. They didn't have a master, they just played off media player...or some program similar. They also didn't have the sound hooked up properly so many videos only had one audio channel and sounded really bad. There was no contest really, the con judged. On the plus side, i got to see both of Uncle Milo's videos (Flash before your eyes and Tribute to Ed) and I believe Uncle Milo plans to attend again.

Hey, Uncle Milo, if you see this, can you tell me why you happen to go to a relatively small con in Ohio if you live out west? ^_^
I go to OhayoCon because they have me there as a guest. I am a voice actor of minor note. VERY MINOR NOTE.

I'm very glad they brought me over there, because I have had more fun at Ohayocon than most other conventions.

I plan to enter some new AMVs at the convention as well...
I'm sorry you had to see "Flash Before Your Eyes" at OhayoCon, because the music was really messed up during the show. It's been available for Download for some time, though... so I hope you got to see it properly!

Don't worry I have ^_~

And even though I am probably not going to the actual con, since it's in Columbus this year I would be happy to show any animemusicvideo.org groups around ^_^

There isn't a huge note worthy presence of anime in Columbus. Mediocre I think....Anime Palace resides in Columbus (they are a big con dealer...with a little store :o ) but they will of course be closed for the con. S.H.O.C.C comics is a nice store that doesn't look anime heavy from the outside but once you see their huge freaking binders full of anime titles to rent you really see how looks can be deceptive.

Easton is where the con is going to be and is in itself a...uh....place to go. Ya' see I am not into 'trendy' stuff really myself but Easton IS pretty impressive. It is also the mecca for the rich people in Columbus.

It is a giant outdoor shopping mall set up by Wexner (who lives in Ohio and is the owner of Victoria's Secret and a rash of other big name stores) and was intended to rival the mall of America in Minnesota. It didn't quite turn out that way but it's still big. At least there is a virgin megastore in the complex. The place is set up complete with fake brick streets lined with places to tie up your horse and carriage  But the parking spaces mostly host SUVs.

I myself may want to stop by just in case any con attendees decide to go over to the shopping part in cosplay....I don't know what kind of reaction that would have. Knowing the attitude of many (not all) of the people who shop there, most likely a lot of weird looks will be handed out.

On the plus side, there is a Japanese restaraunt very close to the hotel. Expensive though. There is a better Japanese steak house about 12 miles away near Tuttle Crossing mall. And a cinnabon shop..mmm.... :D

I just have to say - and this may not even be close to the consensus - but I truly despise Easton. I'll be at Ohayocon, but... that place... it's Disney World without the "heart" and a higher consumer edge! And that's saying a LOT! It's probably the most frightening place I've ever been to in my life. I mean, Gameworks is there. Yeah, I want to spend craploads of money just to get in... yeah for Gameworks. Then again, if I remember correctly, they do have DDR... so... it's not all bad.

That is kinda what I was eluding to when I mentioned the cosplayers at Easton. I just hope it doesn't happen...the hotel is right there next to it. When I was at Otakon, there were tons of people walking around stores and restaraunts in cosplay....I just don't think it would go over well at Easton.

I am think of the phrase..."When worlds collide"

Well... if you do end up being at OhayoCon this year, please say hello. I'd certainly like to hear from a-m-v.org people...

I'm easy to spot.

While I hope I have them up on the web site soon, I will be bringing one of my new Fushigi Yugi AMVs to OhayoCon.
